Does anyone remember these? My father-in-law was a very frequent flyer back then and collected many of these. To the point that when boarding the flight attendant would tell him whether or not he already had the particular one being given out on the particular flight.

This stack is about 20 deep.

Since we are all cleaning out our closets today, we used to get these:

Smug guy in a hammock. Rockin' the lid.

which later morphed into these:

Fireworks in space? Cool!

and this was kinda like a precursor to Earn Your Wings:

Ansett? What a blast from the past.

While looking for 777 freighter info for the Cargo thread, I found this gem:

QUOTE from Monte Brewer in an AC News Release from March 30 2007:

"We are equally proud to be the only North American carrier to offer customers the comfort and privacy of first class lie-flat beds, at a business class price.

Discounted economy Ticket totals - without the myriad of surcharges and fees - were in the $180 - $240 range roundtrip, again IIRC.

Ah, those were the days...
The "NITE" fares were introduced long before the 1990s. I remember doing YYZ-MIA RT departing YYZ around midnight, departing MIA around 4am. These were branded as "Nitehawk" flights and the fare was $99. I don't remember the exact year but I'm gonna say 1978. Equipment was 747.

June 1966 YYZ. This is the oldest family photo of AC planes I can find. There are 4 AC DC-8s in this picture.

...hence the name "Executive First", which stuck around for several years. To be fair, it was way better than other J products when it was named that. It is interesting how much Executive First, International Business Class and the old AC logo are used at some airports. I saw Executive First signage at MUC in January 2017, received a BP from 2013 at ZRH in 2018 and had a 2005 logo printed on my bag tag this year. Even at YYZ, they still use some Executive First signage (most noticeably when they use two jetbridges and show which passengers board where).

I'm pretty sure the name Executive First didn't disappear until the 787 came out with its new product, which was announced very late 2013 if I recall, so a BP in 2013 wouldn't be odd. I definitely have "Executive Class" and "Executive First" BP photos from 2013.

This BP was issued in 2018. It says the print date was 03-2013 and Executive First (even though I was flying Signature Class).

Oh understood.

I've definitely seen the signs here and there too.

Also interesting to note the expected 787 deliveries beginning in 2010 mentioned at the end of the release.

yes, the branding change occurred in 2014 when the DreamCabin was introduced into commercial... but the implementation was, as expected, slowly implemented over time

it's very common to have the older, leftover BP paper stock being used with newer print template formats

the older paper stock, at least from 2008 and onward, were/are completely blank aside from any of the red AC roundel and the red stripe on the front (well starting 2013 they did that and before that it was mostly white from 2008-ish)... stuff like the "business class" vs. "Executive first" are printed directly from the printer regardless of the paper stock

but im not saying you're incorrect... your post does pique my interest... is it possible if you could post a scrubbed pic of your BP?

i actually have BP paper samples from way back... 2002 and onward... I have many scanned and can letter go into a BP history here

That boarding pass is in Toronto where I won't be for at least a couple of months. Can't seem to find the BP in Apple Wallet or on my laptop... sorry.

I have BPs from Sept 15 2013 that say "Executive class" or "Executive first," while for Dec. 12 2013, they say "Business class," for both domestic and transatlantic.

How many of you guys flew on an AC 747?

Image here for those struggling with the Twitter link on mobile:

According to the Historical Fleet page on AC.com, the 747-100 flew with AC from 1971 until 1998. Other variants (747-200 Combi, 747-400 Combi and 747-400) were part of the fleet until 2003. My first commerical flight was in 2003 but I did not fly AC until 2012 so I did not have the chance to fly the Queen with a maple leaf on the tail, sadly.

I think the only times I flew an AC 747 were in 1995. My family did a trip to France and we flew YYC-YYZ-CDG round trip. I think we had a 200 Combi one direction and a 400 the other, but not 100% sure. Sadly I didn't keep records back then
