Fun fact. I wrote a column for Canadian Airlines for 2 or 3 years, up until it was shut down after the merger.

Didn't CP serve LGW? AC & BA to LHR.

I do remember the seat sale and triple mile promotion after the strike ended.

No it was LHR on that day - two flights into LHR from YVR, one BA and one Canadian. We managed to get the flight details from this great website London Heathrow & Gatwick Airports

Departing on 12/09 and arriving 13/09 into LHR the flights were BA084, a 747-200 (GBDXB) which arrived at 13:18 (I think just over an hour late) and CD090, a DC-10 (CFCRE) which arrived at 12:19 (about 25m early).

I am trying to work out what airline Air Canada would have put its customers (us) onto given the strike. I recall the Air Canada pilots were on strike on 12/09/98 and I know we were put onto another airline.

The triple mile promotion was awesome. I flew J to FRA right after the strike ended.

Found a couple Lintoy AC planes from my childhood. A well loved DC9 and a B727.

They seem to have had some "hard" landings.

They came from the "somewhat scary one near Winnipeg" thread.

The DC-9 even has the nose down Gimli Glider stance.

An Air Canada A-319 at the now demolished PHX Terminal 2. Taken by me in October, 2006.

Below is a post of mine dating back 2011. Thought I would quote it on my last day as SE... This status made flying so much easier, and even fun at times, during those 12 years... Will miss the Concierge service and upgrades, my two favorite perks!

Edit: Zone 1 boarding and SE dedicated phone line were good perks as well!

Cheers all,

I have a flight booked on Oct. 15th that will put me around 100k. Does the flight on the 15th count to get early recognition? What about flights later in the month? I remember reading that they are not too strict...

Thanks,

It's not Thursday, but I won't be home then. Had to do some digging to determine this was eligible for the AC forum, but Canadian Airways Limited --> Canadian Pacific Airways (aka CP Air) --> Canadian Airlines International (aka Canadi>n Airlines) --> Air Canada, so yes, it qualifies.
