Now the e-upgrade from Tango offer is extended until July 31st, 2017. Wonder if this perpetual date change will ever end.

I guess they love to collect the co-pay, so the "promo" continues. What's interesting, now I'm even receiving reminders that my flight can be upgraded. But only when I'm booked in Tango.

Yeah it seems like it. That being said, I have gotten LMUs for less than the co-pay on my YYZ-YHZ routes so would rather not burn the 6 credits AND the $$. But I am getting the same emails you mention when in Tango.

Darn...I've just burned 6 credits and paid $150 to upgrade the upgradable portion of my YHZ-YYZ-YXU flight tomorrow. But I did not want to take a risk of the LMU being more expensive or not available. The good news is that the co-pay counts towards AQD.

You can un-request an eUp I believe. I don't know how that works with the co-pay though, I know for LMUs at least it's not refundable. If you really want to wait and try for the LMU, you could call in and find out (or someone here may know for sure).

The one time I paid a co-pay for eUps (YYZ-MCO on rouge from a Tango fare) my cc was not charged until I had actually taken the flight

The NeverEnding eUpgrade Story. Now extended to September 29, 2017.

Apparently not.

Now extended to September 29, 2017.

(More content management fails - when you read the red ribbon header of the Tango upgrade table, it still says "Time limited Promotion for eUpgrade requests made between September 6, 2016 and July 31, 2017"). *sigh*

I dunno about that.

AC makes web site updates very quickly, at least in geological time.

https://services.aircanada.com/eupgw...ice/eupgrade/#

On the eUpgrade (preview) link, when searching for YVR->DFW or YVR->SFO as E50K, V fare shows as immediately upgradable (similar to Latitude). Other Flex fares show within upgrade window only.

I'm guessing this is just a glitch. E75K shows the normal upgrade window for the same period. I don't have any V fares to test with.

What the...

Here's a screenshot for others to save time.

P25K is 99 days.

Meant to post one, oops.

If I had a V fare I'd test it, but my only bookings are in G. I'm guessing it's just a glitch on the eUpgrade preview site.

However I also checked an Aeroplan market fare booking my Wife has and both legs show as immediately upgradeable for 0 credits (2.5 weeks out as E35K). The upgrade request failed, otherwise I wouldn't be posting about it :)

yyznomad Jul 25, 2017 3:02 pm

Oh man, I was totally wrong.

Totally worth it now to get P25K. Forget S100K.

Send an email/lettermail/tweet/facebookpoke to AC and see if they can upgrade you to P25k.

Bohemian1 Jul 25, 2017 6:25 pm

While as a P25K I will benefit immensely from this apparent change in policy (a guy can dream), it makes me wonder if ACA has ever heard of a staging site. Just sayin.

That will be the new MM threshold. P25K for life ar 4MM.

P25k, our new top tier. NO lounge access is now a feature! Experience the tranquility of the sometimes less-crowded airport terminals. Experience 24x7 hot food and made to order coffee on-demand from our per-purchase vendors.

to be fair, the no lounge option usually has better food, cleaner tables and less drunk customers.

jc94 Jul 26, 2017 6:16 am

I'm missing something. Sure 99 days for P25 is good but E50 is anytime, as in over 99 days. Isn't that better? Other than the whole lounge aspect of course ...

Just be careful you don't get to E75.

Bohemian1 Jul 26, 2017 11:14 am

This all is just part of a carefully orchestrated market research effort on AC's part as their crack team of Product Managers iterate towards making sure that their future FF program is The Best Ever.

alc Sep 29, 2017 4:50 am

so, look like they are not extending this offer anymore. as I recall they normally would announce it on the last day of the promo, isn't it?

Maybe they forgot to announce it.

Since AC reads FT, maybe your post will remind the person responsible for AC eupgrade announcements to do their job.

Looks like another extension is in the works

The eUps requirement page has copay values altered... looks like Domestic copay is lower and international has increased? The end date hasn't changed so I'm guessing they are slow in updating it.

I'm guessing the extension will be until sometime in January 2018. ;)

In light of what is happening with branded fares on domestic routes, somewhat of a good news that co-pay appears to be reduced - as I suspect more people subject to corporate travel restrictions will now be stuck buying Tango

BlondeBomber Sep 30, 2017 6:08 am

Looks like it definitely wasn't extended this time (maybe tomorrow?:D)

Just booked flights last night and today and eupgrade requirements are back to "normal" (i.e. twice as much on routes I am travelling)

Who knows. If you've noticed, some of the copay values have definitely changed.

They were late in changing the dates on the eUp requirements page last time too but nowhere near as late as this time.

For example, Tango and AP copay for domestic/TB transcon went from $300/$400 to "starting at $150".

I'm still seeing $300/$400 for domestic transcons.

Copays for YVR - HKG are now $750 for Flex and PY to J? Weren't they lower before?

TPAC has always been $750. (TATL co-pay is $500)

If you actually check the upgrade requirements on the upgrade website, can you find any transcons with that copay?

My guess is we're going to end up in a situation where Tango M has a lower co-pay than Tango V, which is lower than Tango K.

So is it completely based on distance, or are there other factors?

YVR-YWG is fewer credits, but the same co-pay.

YVR-YYZ/YUL are both 10 credits and $300/$400.

YVR-YYC is $50/$100
YYC-YYZ is $150/$200

YVR-YYZ is $300/$400

Is the copay calculated the same way as the credits?

Extended. "You now have until January 8, 2018, to request an upgrade from Tango fares, as well as Aeroplan Fixed Mileage Flight Rewards by using eUpgrade credits in conjunction with an add-on."

The person responsible for the section of the Web site stayed out late the night before, partying, and got into work late.

Wow, I'm good. I wonder how I knew. It's like I woke up and suddenly knew how to do Kung Fu.

vernonc Oct 10, 2017 8:33 am

Quick question. According to the eupg site (preview your itin), YYZ-TPE should be 26 credits from low PY. My eupg shows 8 eupg required for YYZ-YVR and another 26 for YVR-TPE. Is this correct or one of these glitches that I have to call in ?

Isn't it the case that when you go to the next step, it shows 34 being replaced by 26?

That's normally how it works. first page shows per leg, next the corrected amount. That's because one can upgrade a single leg and in some cses that's less than the total route. Or not.
