YYZ-SIN help!
I've been trying to book a flight home for a friend for the summer but I keep getting fares in the $1700+ range out of YYZ. When I check fares out of BUF or ORD they are about $700 cheaper. Does anybody have any ideas on how I can get a cheaper fare out of YYZ. Travel dates are flexible but preferably around April 20th and back on Sept 1st. Any help would be appreciated.

I used short-haul rewards (12K) for a YYZ-ORD, purchasing an ORD-SIN ticket from UA.
A few issues: 1) availability now that KK is gone. 2) 15K points, unless you get a reward sale 3) No guaranteed protection if your YYZ-ORD leg is delayed/cancelled. That said, it worked for me, as the 12K was more than covered in the 21K for ORD-SIN. NV |
Cheapest ex-YYZ would most likely be from an Asian TA. Even with that, you can expect to pay around $1500 CAD at the cheapest.

Why not just fly out of BUF?
Little to no traffic/congestion makes up for the slightly longer drive. UA is now codesharing on US Airways flights to PIT/PHL/CLT, allowing for more connection opportunities. |
Empress is right. Go to any asian TA and ask for the best fares on a Star Alliance carrier... (which is what I think you'd want right?)... and most likely they will offer UA or SQ - if its the latter, make sure you get the fare that will earn him miles.
There are many asian TAs in Chinatown. Most of them offer the same fares due to a cartel agreement between all asian run travel agencies so prices won't differ much from one to another. |
