Routing advice for Aeroplan F

Hey guys, looking for some advice for a one-way trip in Aeroplan F/J

I'll be departing from PVG going to YYZ, don't care how many segments there are, don't really want AC direct, so I'm considering the following options

pvg-icn-jfk - in F. Issue here is that there are no award for JFK-YYZ. I either have to purchase a paid one way from jfk-yyz, or get award for ewr/lga-yyz, get my bags and take a cab to the other airport. Pros for this one is to experience Asiana F on the A380, while the con is of course the hassle in purchasing a separate ticket. Anyone know how the baggage handling will work in this case? will they be checked all the way to YYZ or will I have to pick them up at JFK?

pvg-icn-lax-yyz, with the last segment on AC's A320 for 5 hours in J. it's a single ticket, no need to worry about bags, but I'm not thrilled to sit in the recliner for 5 hours on a red-eye

pvg-nrt-ord-yyz. this is flying ANA F

pvg-tpe-yyz on BR J. this is definitely the most convenient choice, cost less AP miles and scam-charge free. though I've tried them a few times before and wanted something new, so I'll probably not do it this time.

What would you guys recommend? Or there there any other choices? On my outbound i'll be flying LH F, so I would not consider doing that again on the return.

PVG-NRT-ORD-YYZ seems pretty reasonable.

The last hop is really short, and you maximize time in long-haul F.

If you want F, I'd avoid BR and go with the above. Keep in mind you can always change it later if something better shows up, but unless you really want OZ F, I think you've found a good option.

I assume you mean YQ, not SQ.

When I booked YYZ-ORD-NRT-ORD-YYZ, I was charged $3 in YQ.

A dummy NRT-ORD for Saturday shows $2.60 CAD in YQ.

So while your statement may be technically correct, I'd consider it irrelevant

Because Japan regulates YQ, YQ is waived when the destination or origin is Japan, which is what your YYZ-ORD-NRT-ORD-YYZ and dummy NRT-ORD bookings reflect. For the OP Japan is just a transit point, so they'd have to pay the NH YQ.

That routing would still be my choice out of the options, assuming they’re ok with paying YQ. I’m a big fan of NH.

Ah that's annoying. PVG-NRT-ORD is $207.70 CAD.

Still worth it for F, in my opinion, but definitely not as nice as $2.60.

Thanks guys, looks like ANA F wins overwhelmingly over OZ F

There is about 200YQ for either options, unfortunately, since I do not originate from Japan or Korea, there is still YQ charged but guess it's a lot more bearable compared to the YQ on LH

I guess it comes down to the person. ANA has more impressive, modern-looking cabins but I prefer OZ A380 F Suites. Also, in my experience, OZ cabin crews exceed ANA's by every metric.

Does anyone know how my checked bags will be handled if i book an AP from ICN-JFK, then paid fare from JFK-YYZ? do I exit to landside to pick up bags and re-check them?

For LAX-YYZ, which terminal does AC depart from? can I use the *A lounge at TBIT?

That's extremely subjective.

While I certainly have nothing bad to say about the OZ crew I had, both of my NH flights had absolutely phenomenal crews.
