AC retains 10 763s at mainline and 25 at rouge. However, AC has also entered into several new leases for 763 and sent them to rouge.
The aircraft number 681-685 are among the first 763s acquired by CP back in the 90s. It would not surprise me to see these airframes replaced with newer aircraft on short term lease or power by the hour lease.
Of the 10 763s retained at mainline, at least 5 are required for the North American operation (Trascon YYZ to YYC/YVR/LAX/SFO).
Provided the air travel market does not tank, I suspect that AC will keep the mainline 763s and 333s until the Boeing middle of market aircraft is in service. Of course this means I am also predicting AC will be an early adopter or even launch customer for the Boeing MoM aircraft.
Here is another interesting factoid, the difference between AC and UA European services can be broken down as follows:
- UA does not serve the eastern Europe cities that are Rouge seasonal.
- AC does not serve the Great Britain and Scandanavian cities served by UA 752 international aircraft.
The new MoM aircraft would help AC move further into territory served by the UA 752s.

This document is about a year old, but the Fleet plan in the investor presentation still shows 5-8 763's in the fleet in 2018. The footnote mentions the 763's and 330's as swing/flexible capacity.
Details on Slide 31 in this presentation.

I flew Fin 682 C-FCAE a couple of months ago. It is 29.4 years old according to info from Planespotters.
https://www.planespotters.net/airfra...anada/BdKgi4bA
AC has 10 of these 763s listed on their fleet page and some of them were delivered to CAI as far back as 1988.
https://www.planespotters.net/produc...Status=current
Given the comments posted just above by @WR Cage, @Adam Smith and @smallmj, does anyone have any current or updated info as to how much longer they will be at ML, and if they will also be moved to rouge?
Thanks.

The 763s remain in the AC fleet until atleast 2020-21 timeframe when the max9s will be in sufficient numbers.
The Q2-2017 earnings release in August 1 AC mentioned that they are adjusting their goal metrics for CASM and the fleet plan. More will be released in the upcoming investor day. The highlevel release has AC adjusting their growth projections back into the single digits from 10-25% increase we have seen over the past two years.
The fleet plan focus is now on the narrowbody 737max and CS300 programs. Aircraft are expected to be replaced 1:1 with seat growth limited to marginal increase in cabin size.
There is no brand new aircraft in the 200-250 seat moderate-high density configuration on the market today. This assumes that Boeing is no longer offering the 788 to new customers, as evidenced by the 789 order from Westjet (e.g. WS would have bought 788s at a good price if offered by Boeing).
The middle of market aircraft is a gap that is growing every year, at some point Airbus or Boeing is going to bite bullet and come up with a viable design. Until then I see AC keeping the well maintained and operationally efficient 763.

24L, AC is retiring 763s as we speak. According to their latest presentation (slide 11), 2 more will go before the end of the year and another 3 next year.
rouge is limited under the pilot contact to 25 widebodies and it's full up once one more arrives. I don't know where they're going to source the 25th 763 (they're at 24 now), but if it's coming from mainline, it will undoubtedly be the youngest one. Given the age of these planes, the rest probably go straight to the scrapheap.
All else being equal, the oldest ones (the 1988 delivieries) will probably go first.

My YYZ-LAX flight on the 18th was changed to a 767, which had issues.
4 hours later we were boarding another 767. She was a ragged plane, that's for sure. Didn't help that someone peed in the corner of the lav (missed the bowl??) and left a ton of tp sitting there
