Hi
No they didn't. They gave me some promo code. I was planning on contacting refund.me as they appear to have a good record on payouts. Should I contact AC Customer Service directly, or should I just go straight to refund.me.
Anyone got advice on how to proceed. It ended up being a 6 hour delay.

AC customer service. They are pretty good. I've had 2 experiences. Once they paid no issue, the other time they tried to avoid it and I reminded them that acft maintenance issues do not absolve them of their EC 261/2004 liabilities. They paid. Remember it's 600€ in a negotiable document (cash, cheque, etc). Travel vouchers are only acceptable if approved by the passenger.

Hmm, looks like the plane had some issue above Montreal and turned back and landed in YYZ after which it took off again nearly three hours later.
Poor paxes in Y, they pretty much flew a TPAC.
