Does connecting from EWR en route to YVR automatically grant me access to the international lounge? I'm traveling on a United award ticket, all segments in business class but unsure if the gate rule will still apply here. Connecting to AC 307 which will be a 737 Max, if that matters gate-wise.

If you mean EWR-YUL-YVR, then when you exit the OSS path, you'll be right across from the international MLL.

Therefore, try to gain entry. No harm in asking.

It's someone unlikely that a 7M8 would be parked at an eligible gate, but certainly not impossible.

Usually the YVR 737Max flights leave from the old part of the terminal (gates 1-10) near the domestic MLL, but it's worth a try.

The international zone at YUL is now separated from the domestic zone...I missed this development. That means that the PP international lounge can no longer be accessed by domestic flyers...that was my mainstay when I used to fly YUL-YYZ q 2 weeks

How is it separated ? If you enter the international area, can you still just walk to the domestic area without any checks or do you have to go through customs/immigration ?

No. it is a customs controlled area (again) now. Once you enter, you need to re-clear CBSA to leave

What happens if you are no longer flying after entering the area ? ie: Bought international refundable flight in order to be able to accompany ageing parent (who is not very airport savvy) to gate, because it's difficult to get a gate pass.

Pretty sure what you are describing is not allowed anyway so there would not be a normal mechanism that allows you to exit without having to answer some embarrassing questions.

I've left the transborder area after a flight was cancelled and while I needed airline staff to escort me over to Canadian customs there was no hassle or embarrassing questions.

Were there any non-embarrassing questions? Did they scan your passport (or did you use NEXUS?)?

Normal entry procedure, scan at kiosk, hand receipt to CBSA agent and walk out. This happened at YYZ for me and the only time I had to explain myself was at the US pre-clearance at YTZ after I cabbed over to take a Porter flight. They were confused at to why I went through pre-clearance twice in an afternoon.

Since when did YTZ have pre-clearance? I know talks concluded, but I never knew that it had been built already...

My bad, it was at BOS that I got the questioning. Still no pre-clearance at YTZ
