A330-300 Fleet Overview

AC currently has two configurations of 333:
  • Dream Cabin (16 aircraft): Latest 3-class configuration in line with the 787 and 777 fleets (seat map)
  • The "Merlions" (2 aircraft): ex-Singapore Airlines 2-class configuration (seat map), which are expected to be reconfigured to the Dream Cabin.
    • Important note: the front cabin on these aircraft is an angle-flat product in a 2-2-2 layout that was SQ's "regional" business class. On flights within North America, AC sells it as J; on international flights, they sell it as PY. These aircraft do not have the standard AC PY cabin
    • Since October 2023, these aircraft primarily operate YYZ>BOG>YUL triangle, and YUL<>LAX.

It's not dedicated to a single route...it could show up on any route.

Indeed. Although we had the angled blue XM pods on the outbound YUL-LYS AC876, on our return LYS-YUL AC877, we had the current Signature class seats.

Classic pods are still lie-flats, in 1-1-1 config.

Yeah, I'm not sure what people are talking about.

They're definitely lie-flat.

Same. My recent YYZ-BCN was XM. Return BCN-YYZ was current pod.

Now that the FIN numbers are not visible when you check the flight status, there are other several other tracking tools that you can use such as FlightAware, FlightRadar, FlightStats and several other tracking sites that I failed to mention when I first responded to this post because I honestly never really looked at the FIN numbers and maybe should not have taken the time to respond.

I hope the odds are in your favor for the XM lottery (I currently have an XM'd AC738 on Sep 30 but perhaps the skygods will be in my favor on the evening of the 29th)

Or FlightAware. Or FlightRadar. Or FlightStats. Or any of the other tracking sites.

I stand corrected and now look like a complete idiot.
My apologies.

Has anyone successfully complained and received compensation for old configuration when in Paid J?

What's the rationale for compensation? It's still a flat bed pod.

Picture on website and all marketing for signature is the new seat. I get that there is small fine print that says it may be different but the two are quite different (entertainment, comfort, etc)

You are buying ‘business’ class, not a specific type of seat. If you are going from a lie flat to say, a recliner on a 737, there’s definitely an argument there, but even so, I suspect the actual T&Cs don’t require it if it is the same cabin and is still at the discretion of AC.

of course, they are going to market the latest and greatest, but airlines can’t transform cabins fleet-wide overnight, so there is always going to be some variation, and with that, the potential of changing from what’s planned. Kind of part of the industry, and same with other carriers that also dont promise a specific cabin config, particularly during cabin updates. Sometimes you will win, sometimes you will not. Sometimes the cabin will change to the old last minute, while a different flight will suddenly get the new last minute. So could easily be the latter, especially in the late stages of a config change like this.

Yes and. no. Depends. True in the case of the previous poster: he paid for and gets a lie flat.

However on flights like transcons, li flat seats are priced higher than single aisle in which case there would be a case for reimbursing the difference. Except for upgrades, when there is no difference.
