A330-300 Fleet Overview

AC currently has three two configurations of 333:
  • Dream Cabin (16 aircraft): new configuration more in line with the product on AC's 787 and 777 fleets (seat map)
  • XM: AC's old configuration dating from the mid-2000s, which is being phased out (seat map)
  • SQ (2 aircraft): Singapore Airlines configuration, which is being phased out (seat map)
    • Important note: the front cabin on these aircraft is an angle-flat product in a 2-2-2 layout that was SQ's "regional" business class. On flights within North America, AC sells it as J; on international flights, they sell it as PY. These aircraft do not have a normal PY cabin
    • As of October 2023, these aircraft appear to be mostly used on YYZ/YUL-BOG, YUL-ALG, and domestic/TB TCONs (e.g. YUL-YVR/LAX)

The aircraft are gradually being refurbished to the Dream Cabin standard.

Return flight AC 95 from Bogotá is showing SQ layout. Clearly no Dream cabin.

But, why bother - the next generation cabin is ready. Maybe they’ll upgrade 946 first.

In the past when they've been rolling out configuration changes, the seat map has sometimes stayed on the old config until very shortly before the new flight, sometimes leaving a big mess to sort out at the gate. Until someone here actually gets on the plane, or maybe captures the seat map around the time check-in closes but before it disappears, I wouldn't feel confident in that assessment. You may well be right that it wasn't reconfigured, but it might have been and this might just be AC's IT being behind the curve yet again.

What "next generation" cabin? AC just started installing this cabin in the 333s in 2020 and has continued to put the same product in all of them.

They've announced they're studying an update to the current iteration of the J cabin, but they've also explicitly stated that that's in the context of the first few Dreamcabins from ~10 years ago coming towards the end of their lives, so it's likely the 787s and 777s will see an update before yet another new product gets brought in to the 333s.

Heck, given how long AC rode the XM interiors, it's not inconceivable that the next iteration of AC's widebody J product debuts in the 781s when they arrive, then rolls through the existing 787/777 fleet. In fact, I would put good money on the original 333s retiring from AC (probably 2030 +/- a couple years) with essentially this cabin.

Please do. 946 is assigned to BOG for the foreseeable future when looking on the app.

Would be great, I'm flying BOG-YYZ on the 24th. I wonder what was the reason for not retrofitting the cabin.(assuming they did not) I know the estimated average turnaround time for retrofit is 8-10 weeks. I think FIN946 was at QPG for 7 weeks.

Thanks for all the information on this thread, very useful in advance of a flight to BOG in Feb. Does anyone happen to know of a post/link anywhere which reviews the SQ cabin layout and food provided on these PY flights to BOG and similar?

With this being your first post, welcome to FT

Information on seats and other interior features is in this thread.

There is a thread for international PY meals. Unfortunately it has very little information as very few members have shared menus, photos, etc of PY meals.

946 was at QPG for just over 5 weeks. IMO not enough time for a cabin refit.

I think I mentioned before but in summer 2024 (I'm looking at end of July), the following international routes are currently showing SQ config, and will require two frames for coverage:
YYZ-BOG 3 weekly
YUL-BOG 3 weekly
YUL-ALG 4 weekly
YUL-LYS 4 weekly
I'm also seeing a YUL-LAX roundtrip on Thursdays (return Fridays) on AC 779/774 that's on the SQ config (the other days of the week currently show the Dream cabin) that won't fit in the rotation with only 2 frames, so there might be at least a 3rd frame (fin 950?) arriving by summer in the SQ config, with more transcon flights switching over as the schedule gets updated.

Also, I wonder if they're planning on keeping 946/948 in the SQ cabin until the 787-10s come? I believe they went through the trouble of reupholstering all the Y seats from SQ's brown/green to AC's blue-black with red and teal accents. It's possible that these two frames (and maybe the rumoured fins 949/950) are on short term leases of only a few years, and the 787-10s will send them off.

I can confirm that Fin 946 is still the SQ configuration. 2-2-2 in PE- not sure in the back as I am too afraid to look

My parents are flying YUL-BOG tonight. I booked them in PY on an ex-SQ configuration. At check-in, the plane was switch to a regular AC plane with Signature class seats. The J cabin is now PY and the PY cabin is integrated in the Y cabin.

I expect PY catering and amenity kit but I wonder what bedding and headphones they will provide.

Looks like the scheduling of this aircraft is complicated with only one of this type flying but C-GXZD is currently flying back from MZJ.

App for YYZ-YUL AC418 is showing Fin 418, and seat map for YUL-BOG AC98 tonight is now showing Fin 948 with SQ config.

Kind of a mess. Secured them seats together on the new aircraft swap but I feel there are still many chances of aircraft swap

Seem like buying J YUL-LAX on a Wednesday late July is risky if I want a lie flat.

I didn't notice any duct-taped panels or chewing gum stuck to the product, so I'd say you got an upgrade.

On FIN 948/C-GXZD for the extra “rescue” flight from YHZ-YUL. It’s still in the SQ configuration, at least J, as of February 2024.
