A330-300 Fleet Overview

AC currently has two configurations of 333:
  • Dream Cabin (16 aircraft): Latest 3-class configuration in line with the 787 and 777 fleets (seat map)
  • The "Merlions" (2 aircraft): ex-Singapore Airlines 2-class configuration (seat map), which are expected to be reconfigured to the Dream Cabin.
    • Important note: the front cabin on these aircraft is an angle-flat product in a 2-2-2 layout that was SQ's "regional" business class. On flights within North America, AC sells it as J; on international flights, they sell it as PY. These aircraft do not have the standard AC PY cabin
    • Since October 2023, these aircraft primarily operate YYZ>BOG>YUL triangle, and YUL<>LAX.

The manufacturer has developed a solution for the deflation issue that will be rolled out shortly. Highly unlikely the 333 refurbishment will be done with the flawed design.

I remain skeptical - much better to have a bird in hand (classic pod) than a signature seat in the bush

AC is spending $275MM on this refurbishment, and it's not starting until late this year. The fix is already being rolled out in the fleet - see the DeflateGate thread. There's a difference between skepticism and putting on a tin-foil hat.

I would suggest that any business anywhere "likes" things that have a lower TCO. There aren't too many successful businesses that set out to do things in a more expensive manner than possible.

The call it the signature seat because you leave the plane carrying a piece of paper with the SD's signature on it, confirming you were relegated to sitting on an empty plastic bag.

Looks like the first of the "Lions" (C-GEFA) is on its way to YVR today as AC2325.

Anyone know why it's heading to YVR first?

And the operator was shown as NT Air, but maybe that's just an artifact of the C-GEFA registration previously having been a 1990 Beechcraft 1900C .

Quite the upgauge.

Looks like AC is/will be using the SQ A330s on YUL-LAX route. Selling up front as (Domestic/Transborder) J. Not sure if this is a stopgap until the MAX starts flying. Anyone got picks on the AC interior?

Was taxiing out of LIS to YYZ this afternoon (in a glorious ACr 767) when I noticed an A330 sitting out on the tarmac at the corner of the airport, painted in the new AC livery. Was scouring my mind as to why it would be there, I'm assuming they're still in the process of being handed over.
