A330-300 Fleet Overview

AC currently has two configurations of 333:
  • Dream Cabin (16 aircraft): Latest 3-class configuration in line with the 787 and 777 fleets (seat map)
  • The "Merlions" (2 aircraft): ex-Singapore Airlines 2-class configuration (seat map), which are expected to be reconfigured to the Dream Cabin.
    • Important note: the front cabin on these aircraft is an angle-flat product in a 2-2-2 layout that was SQ's "regional" business class. On flights within North America, AC sells it as J; on international flights, they sell it as PY. These aircraft do not have the standard AC PY cabin
    • Since October 2023, these aircraft primarily operate YYZ>BOG>YUL triangle, and YUL<>LAX.

I have flown those seats as SQ J before. A few 5-6 hour red eyes. They were absolutely fine and I had a good nap.

They could call this PE+ and not be too far off

Per the MD&A issued Oct 31, 2018 - https://www.aircanada.com/content/da...018_MDA_q3.pdf

Reconfiguration of Airbus A330 Aircraft
In order to provide customers with a product that is consistent across its wide-body fleet, Air Canada plans on reconfiguring 12 Airbus A330 aircraft (eight of which are currently in service and four scheduled to be added in 2019) to the new Boeing 787 state-of-the-art standard. The reconfiguration of the Airbus A330 aircraft is expected to begin in late 2019 for completion in the first half of 2020. The capital expenditure related to this refurbishment program (which is included in the projected committed expenditures in the table below) is approximately $275 million.
I'm excited.

I'm excited.
As long as they install the seats with the deflating issue fix in-place, then this is good news.

If not, there goes my cunning plan of flying to CDG by connecting through YUL to avoid the stayflat seats.

Anybody know what seat type (recliner vs. angled lie flat) or screen size they are installing on the SQ A330s?

They're leaving the ex-SQ, angled-lie-flat for the summer season at least. 15" AVOD.

They're putting the 787/777 standard into the A330s. Until that refurbishment happens, it's the SQ regional business class seat sold as PY.

Is this J cabin too or will they be moving Y to 3-3-3 from 2-4-2?

It can be done - just ask Air Transat.

There will be a 13th A330 added in 2020. Wouldn’t be surprised if they actually add further to the Airbus wide body fleet.

I do not but there a fair number of SQ A330's that are being removed from the SQ fleet - I'd put my money on it coming from SQ (and quite possibly more that may follow).
