A330-300 Fleet Overview
AC currently has two configurations of 333:
- Dream Cabin (16 aircraft): Latest 3-class configuration in line with the 787 and 777 fleets (seat map)
- The "Merlions" (2 aircraft): ex-Singapore Airlines 2-class configuration (seat map), which are expected to be reconfigured to the Dream Cabin.
- Important note: the front cabin on these aircraft is an angle-flat product in a 2-2-2 layout that was SQ's "regional" business class. On flights within North America, AC sells it as J; on international flights, they sell it as PY. These aircraft do not have the standard AC PY cabin
- Since October 2023, these aircraft primarily operate YYZ>BOG>YUL triangle, and YUL<>LAX.

A333 PE Cabin Same Config Domestic/Intl - Row 14
Absolutely loving this too!! But my question is: is this PE cabin the same config for all A333 in the AC fleet? I fly YUL YVR and always sit in 14, but is it the same cabin on the YUL LYS flight?

I was speaking with a 330 Captain today, and he mentioned some things I found interesting.
1. The most senior 330 pilots fly the YUL-YVR route because they get their hours in and still can be home at night.
2. The reconfig for the newer J cabin is starting very soon.
3. AC wanted more 330s, but was having trouble finding available ones with the same engine manufacturer, and they only want additional 330s with the same engine manufacturer.
4. He and others that fly the type are very fond of the planes and happy AC is continuing to keep them in the fleet and with a new J cabin, indicates a longer term plan.

Does this configuration make sense for AC ?

The European jetmaker is working with seat manufacturer Zodiac Aerospace on the design and construction of lie-flat beds to fit in lower-deck cargo areas. The berths will initially be offered on Airbus A330 widebody aircraft from 2020, the companies said Tuesday at a conference in Hamburg.

I will miss the days of sitting in the A seats on AC's A333s with the old pods.

Actually, the 788's cabin is wider than the A333's. The difference is only about 15", but it's there.

It also looks like Rockwell Collins is developing a 3 abreast Super Diamond seat for A330/B787, which I assume would enable greater density while putting them at a more extreme angle compared with the aisle.

Singapore, 10 April 2018 – ST Aerospace announced today that it secured a letter of intent for a contract from Air Canada to perform interior reconfiguration on part of the airline’s A330-300 fleet. The new cabin interiors for Air Canada’s A330-300 fleet will be harmonised with its Boeing 787 aircraft.

So if 1-2-1 in J, it will either be slightly narrower rows while keeping the same "width" of J seat, or the J seats become slightly narrower, like the 777 ones where the little entrance space between the seat pop-up armest and the backwall of the seat in front is narrower than the 787s. (this is purely a guess on my part)
