What are the extra digits on an AC ticket number
I frequently see ticket numbers that look like this: 0141234567890-XX
The XX is sometimes 2 or 3 digits in length
I've also seen the postfix change on ticket changes, without the ticket number changing.
What is the XX?

You can only have up to four segments per ticket, so rehoult is right, if you have more, then it is a conjunctive ticket, and the -xx indicates that there is more than one.

I see -xxx but it's a single segment ticket... I guess these are just attached to every ticket to address the possibility of more than 4 segments?
Further, I have Aeroplan redemption itineraries where only one -xxx number is listed, but I guess the others are just not printed in this particular format?

For a single segment ticket it's normally due to a change, but it could also occur for codeshares or other airline operated tickets. For instance, on reward tickets will multiple *A carriers, I'll frequently end up with 3-4 ticket numbers even though there are only 6 or 7 segments. Seems some airlines don't share tickets nicely.

It depends. It could be written 014-1234567890-92, that would mean that there are 3 tickets, ending in 90, 91 and 92.

I get it. And no, I cannot find an example of a 4-or-less segment itinerary with the -XX or -XXX afterwards. And I'm completely sober too! It is time for me to retire.
Totally makes sense now.
