gifted E50 to a friend

Has anyone selected this option?

i did and received my package for SE.
they haven't yet received anything about 50k?
(and would like to use lounge access in a couple of weeks)

When/how does the friend receive their 50k package?
thanks for any insights.

They will give AC their address during selection of privileges.
And if they have an android phone they can load up the virtual card on their AC app.

I've selected it before.

They got the ability to select the day after I nominated them. Email notification of being nominated arrived about 2 weeks later.

Tell them to go to altitude.aircanada.com and log in with their aeroplan number and password and they should be able to select privileges right now.

Nope, I know for a fact they can select instantly. Wink wink.

I selected 50K for my husband, and he was able to select privileges next day. He also got his new package in the mail around Jan 6th, while I am still waiting for my SE package....hopefully not for long :-)

Yes, it should be instant. Might not receive an email from AC immediately, but one can log into Altitude and pick once nomination has been submitted.

Have you guys ever try to sell 50K status, or more importantly, is there a demand for it?

Just saw someone in Flyertea spend close to 2000 CDN in two days to get 50K status on air china...Surely some people would sell their 50K Status at that price level or even much lower(1000, 800?)
Or more importantly, whats the value being placed on 50K Status as oppose to other options within bundle 1?

You'd have to beat what I think 50 eUps or 100% bonus miles are worth.

Wait, I have 70 eUps expiring...

Anyone want E50K for a beer?

See you tomorrow.

Will I have to put in my FT signature that I receive compensation from CanadianCow?

Sure, gift it to me. I can stack E50K on top of my SE status and get some extra eUps and an additional 50% bonus miles! AC will totally let me do that, I'm sure.

Next time you are in YVR MLL, have all the booze you want. Tell the agent to put it on my tab.
I will also hang canadiancow on my wall and worship to it every night before going to sleep.

Now, lets get back to business, when can I msg you my aeroplan number?

Since you're incorrectly capitalizing my name, you're disqualified.

Also, you're already E50K.

But wait, are you coming to SFO tomorrow too?

Maybe I should organize another last minute Do

If someone has E50K status already, it appears you cannot gift them E50K status until after their current status expires. I gifted E50K status to a relative last year and just tried to gift it again to the same person and it came back with a message that they have status until Feb 29th and try again March 2nd.

Why would AC care that the person has status already? What is the advantage to AC making someone wait until their current status expires? Apart from not having e-ups for a few days in between I suppose. Is it just too hard for AC IT to process this request? Seems silly but then again... this is AC so really, silly = just another day.
