They might, yes. But evidence is not proof, Ken. Likewise, a settlement absent details doesn't allow any side to claim a moral high ground.

To the contrary, some posters have previously mentioned that AC is famous in term of taking things all the ways.

I won't say it is standard, at least to AC.

In practice - not worth it.

If you have a DHP status flagged by AC, then AC may have to disclose your personal information with AC. It does not necessary mean AC has to explain to you why you are DHPed.

But if your DHP status is flagged by a government agency, then AC has no obligation to provide the information to you.

Bottom line - PIPEDA may not be able to get you the answer why you are DHPed.

What in the world is DHP (looked it up in the glossary and couldn't find it!)?

"Designated High Profile" - a Google research a few minutes ago.

In other word, red-flagged.

something caught my eyes regarding PIPEDA - do you think I can also file a PIPEDA request with AC about my DHP? My wife had a DHP issue last year, her name matches someone else who is DHP. We had it cleared with corporate security last year, and now she can check-in, but only when her Aeroplan # is on a booking.

I posted about it here: why can't I check-in online? (OLCI)

Congrats DC, glad it worked out for you! Just don't pull a canadiancow in the MLL shower now that they'll let you back in

What important is they worked out the solutions, not who caved in more.
That may be what is important to the parties involved.

But to others in this forum who might find themselves in a similar situation the details are what would be important.

Of course that's why Air Canada will do whatever it can to keep those details secret.

I would be shocked if we ever get the details, corporations usually NDA (not correct term before the legal pedants jump on it) these types of settlements so the juicy info never gets out, no?

The speed with which the matter resolved suggests 1) that AC knew they had a problem and 2) they may well have been negotiating and DC filed cause of the SOL.

To be fair, the matter is not settled yet. Spoke prematurely. Waiting for ink to dry though...

In either case, the details will not be discussed.

One thing I have learned from all this is I think I will finish up my legal studies and qualify somewhere. But I'm leaning more towards the direction of the David Eby's realm than say, M&As and IPOs... and I just realized his name is "David."

You should probably not comment on the matter if the ink is not dry yet. I'd edit that last comment if I were you @DrunkCargo.

Not likely a comment on FT would change anything, the ink may not be dry but the settlement (whatever it is) is a done deal...IMHO

Thanks Jordan - yes, they did that for me but I want to use my TK or UA. My AP ticket does allow me to check in.
