E35 - advice please

I've been flying with others this year and now realize I will be 5k short of E35. Is it worth a MR to qualify this year?

thanks for your advice.

What are your travels looking like for next year?

If you will be flying around the same or more, definitely MR to E35K, if your flights are usually on AC.

Depends on what you get out of it.

If lounge access is important to you (and assuming it doesn't get cut for 2016), great.

If you often fly with a lot of luggage, the savings in extra-bag fees could easily offset the cost of a MR.

If you're hoping it'll get you upgraded a lot, then probably not so much.

Next year my plans are similiar

I fly AC primarily across between YYZ & Western Canada, and YYZ to Europe.

Lounge and luggage are not that important.

thanks.

I'd MR in a heartbeat. I'm not like some super frugal fliers when it comes to MR (CPM wise), but YYZ YVR has great discounted J fares at the moment.

2078*1.5 = 3117 AQM (one way) - in J
2078 in lowest Flex = 2078 AQM

Total: 5195 AQM. Stop in YVR, grab a dinner or stay a night. Done.

Yes, there are infinite other routes which are cheaper, but provided the program is relatively the same, I'd MR up. Plus zone 2 boarding on AC for E35k would be worth it. That and the other points yvrgary pointed out.

Is a MR worth it to achieve an Altitude level?

Ah yes, it's that "time of the year".......

Is a MR worth it to achieve an Altitude level?

I'm wondering if we should have a mini-wiki with all of the collective wisdom and advice from the many in this forum who have done MRs in the past to achieve their level, or from those who do not think it is worth it, and why.

Everyone here can offer advice, or info on what each Altitude level offers.
We can even post the Altitude charts with benefits (oh wait, we've done that).

Ultimately, I think it is a 100% personal decision. If the cost can be all or partly covered by the generosity of an employer, great. If not, then it's up to you on how you value and spend your money.

Make sure you enjoy whatever you choose to do. :)

Oooh... a mini-flowchart infographic. With so many branches for "Where are your primary routes", "what level are you looking to obtain", "how far away are you", "do you want lounge access", "do you have separate lounge access (such as PP)", etc., that could leave people crosseyed, and in the end have them give up and start 50 posts on these topics.

Hmm - I just got a chill of evilness ;)
