Quick question Please Help
 

I've been on hold for 2 hours- tweeted- asked on here before and haven't gotten an answer so I'm asking again-

if I CANCEL a flight within 2 hours of departure what happens to the taxes/surcharges I paid- do they get refunded? or ONLY when I actually 'refund' the flight before the 22 days to departure window?

Sorry it is an awards ticket- I paid $348 in taxes/surcharges for the 2 of them when I booked....I thought my amex plat had trip cancellation but that doesn't cover award tickets "(

Terms and conditions say:

42. Within two hours of scheduled departure, changes/cancellations of a flight reward are not permitted. The flight reward mileage is forfeit and the ticket is no longer valid for travel.

I would assume that any legitimate taxes would be refunded, and that any fees would
be forfeited.

I would cancel before the 2 hour window- I would cancel this ticket before the 2 hour window- and what would become of the taxes I paid? I can assume to but I don't know for sure??
