About a month or so ago, Joni Mitchell on LAX-YYC. Pleasant lady, said hello to each other in the empty MLL before the flight. I think she was doing something with the Calgary OPera/Symphony

Sitting at YVR looking out at the ramp. Two older, as in not 400 series, 747s with Japanese markins. Presumedly for the Emperor and his wife. Why two? If it was the sumo team, I could understand possible weight and balance issues.
Maybe they fly on seperate planes? In public they keep up the illusion of liking each other, they run to seperate planes.

As far as I've heard one is for the Emperor, Empress and close staff and the other is for the entourage and media. Yesterday (Fri 11th) we had an AC 767-300 fly YVR-YYJ to bring the Emperor here (and will be returning to YVR on Sunday, AFAIK again on an AC charter).
EDIT: And according to a buddy that flew over YVR (in a private Cessna) today, both 747's are -400s.
