Seat Map / Availability Discrepancy

Hey all,

Sorry, this is probably a newbie question since I don't usually fly AC, but I was checking on tonight's AC141 (YYZ-YYC) to see the seat map on EF. It was showing availability as Y9 ... T9 L7 A6 K6, but only one seat free on the seat map (none showed as blocked, all occupied).

Does anyone know what the discrepancy here is due to? Are they really still selling 9+ Y seats on this flight, with only one seat left unassigned?

I think EF shows preferred seats as occupied.

Ah, makes sense :)

Just went to try booking it on aircanada.com and viewing the seat map (like I probably should have at the start) and saw that there were 11 preferred seats free, which showed up as occupied on EF

Certain number of seats are also held for Airport operations as well.. Have to take that into consideration when looking at the numbers for same day flights or within 24hrs.

I've successfully selected preferred seats through concur. It gave me a big warning about how if I'm not entitled to them, AC will reject it.

Ah! Well good! It's been awhile since I gave concur a try and it would let you select it, and put in your number, etc, and then would never work if you logged in to AC and checked your ticket. So glad to hear they got it working right finally.
