As a student, wouldn't you be thinking about spending the money you expect to make for the next 40 years of your life? I was so eager to get started I dropped out.

AC846 YYZ->MUC, $915 (E->J). Declined.

Sorely tempted though. When I checked seat plan earlier was showing 2 in Y, 6 in PY and 7 in J so I'm hoping for a status free aircraft that's overbooked by 7 people

I have a booking of YYZ-FRA-DXB-FRA-YYZ made with AC. Between YYZ and FRA it is AC metal and between FRA and DXB it is LH metal. The LH flights are code shares. If I am offered an LMU, would it only be on the AC flights?

Thanks.

Do you get charged an increased departure tax when buying an LMU ex-UK?

An LMU would only be offered for the AC operated flights. (Cost a LMU also is per segment).

On the LH segments, you can normally upgrade on their site assuming you have an account with the ticket linked to it, at any point before the flight, they're normally quite reasonable. Same area as for picking seats etc..

Sadly no. From the Altitude website Q&A:

Q: Will I earn AQD for baggage service charges, Maple LeafTM Club membership or other Air Canada purchases?

A: At this time, only ticket purchases (base fare and carrier-imposed surcharges) and eUpgrade Add-ons will earn AQD. Any other purchases, including those listed above, as well as Last-Minute Paid Upgrades, Preferred seats and Air Canada Café, will not count towards your AQD balance. Furthermore, government-imposed taxes, fees and surcharges will not count towards your AQD balance.

Last minute upgrade - worth it?

Was offered an upgrade to business class for $125+TAX CAD for YYZ-BOS. Flight is in T-7days. Is this worth it? Would you expect it to get cheaper? Business class is wide open according to the agent.
