I think it's fantastic. That $35 is better than any last minute upgrade.
CEO Calin Rovinescu is especially proud of this new option. “Once again, Air Canada has shown itself to be a leader in the airline industry. We are the first airline to offer our passengers the ability to purchase pleasant customer service.”

Well I guess all the excel spreadsheet tasks in the commercial division wasn't all for naught.
But the bigger question is, how do we get our $35 back if surly Sally takes our money and hangs up afterwards?

We laugh, but Calin did say he wanted to increase ancillary revenues...
The question is, if you're not satisfied with the "pleasant" customer service, how do you go about getting a refund? Is it the same nightmare we deal with now or will they be more pleasant with you since you purchased the pleasant customer service option?
Edit: looks like kwflyer and I were thinking along the same lines.

Who doesn't get how really funny this "article" is, given the comments about "glare of death" buy some crew when asking for an extra cracker (other thread).
It was a perfect Monday morning laugh.

If only I'd been able to pay a mere $35 to avoid that experience - I'd've jumped on it.
