Really pushing those Market Fares...

I suppose this would make more sense for a non-SE, but it's a little annoying to have both this dialog and it defaulting to the Market Fare tab.

There might not be any Classic availability? I've never had that problem.

Base Fare (including surcharges) 716.84
Grand Total - US dollars $788.99

I just find it amusing that they highlight the fewer miles required, but completely ignore the fact that it needs $260 more in fees.

So they are still valuing it at 1.5 cents/point then.

Thats actually probably very accurate for Aeroplan, although maybe a bit on the high end - so not as bad of a use of AE miles as it first appears for Y

In fairness, the difference is due to your status with Air Canada and is a recent (1 march) adjustment to the program. Hardly worthy of a thread.

The thread was about how they push for Market Fares twice. The price difference was an afterthought.

But for a non-SE the marketfare probably would be the best value.... and so it should be "pushed"

Twice? As I said, it defaulted to the Market Fare tab, then it popped up that dialog on purchase for Classic.

Actually they are probably pushing market fares because they recently got some bad press about not having anything available. So now if people log in and search flights are "available"

How is it a better value at almost three times the price?

A regular Altitude member would have paid much more in taxes than what the OP is posting as a SE. His data point is flawed.

No it isn't.

I said it's silly they try to push me to Market Fare a second time, after I've already said no.

And I said it's equally silly that they literally highlight the mileage difference, but not the fee difference.

What part of that is flawed?

Aeroplan. Ethics.

Debate. Discuss. Reconcile your viewpoints.

Class dismissed.
