Showing gate eUpgrade queue on an app or website (instead of screen?)
So I could understand why AC would not wanna show upgrade priorities on a screen like UA does:
1) Need $$ to invest in the screen and the computers to drive the data to the screen. 2) Potential privacy reasons. So, instead, I'd like to suggest that Air Canada adds a feature to the existing Air Canada app or website that allows people to look up their gate-upgrade queue/rank using their confirmation number and aeroplan number, after check in. It will also be good show show the upgrade queue / rank during OLCI when offered last-minute-upgrades. |
LAN introduced this a while back. It works well. Not an app but an interweb. They show you your name and place on the list and then XXX out everyone else's name but do provide everyone's check-in time and status or reason (hence showing a visible rationale for the list order).
LAN check-in is T-48h so you can amuse yourself fretting over the list until it goes to gate control at T-1h. It is sometimes entertaining to see someone got listed above everyone because they are “LAN employees on honeymoon” mauk mauk I am still waiting for an answer exactly what privacy law prohibits them from posting your initials on a monitor but doesn't prohibit publicly announcing your entire name to call you up to the desk? |

I'm not even sure if the existing IT infrastructure allows them to do this?

If AC wanted to make this a priority they could. Just ask eUpgraders as part if the process to use their initials publicly as part if a list published onscreen or online. Privacy law problem solved.

I don't care about the names of others For me, I just want to see something like this show up on my phone or AC website after I log into my booking:- ___________________________________________ Traveller: Cooleddie Flight: AC720 Date: March 7, 2015 You are currently booked in economy class. There are currently 4 empty business class seats available. You are number 6 in the upgrade queue. Great news! Your flight is currently available for an immediate upgrade. Purchase a last minute upgrade for $320 by clicking here. Thank you for flying with Air Canada. We look forward to welcoming you on board. ___________________________________________ |

No, but I wouldn't even need initials at all.

I politely ask the lounge dragons where I am on the list (I use OLCI often), and they can tell me if I should drink heavily at the lounge or that they are pretty sure I will clear the upgrade at the gate. Once actually at SEA too, I asked during check in and they said Mr. SAP you are #1 on the list! (was waitlisted) All they need to do is make this info available via a mobile app as suggested. |
