AC 787 J class or 767/777/A333 pods for sleep?

Heading to Europe later in the month.

Which are better for sleep? I'm tall (6'4").

New 787 pods or older 767/777/A333 pods?

Being 6'3" myself, I prefer the older pods for length, however I never found them to be all that comfortable. I find the 787 seats even less so, due the air filled cushioning.

I'll take the pods any day - nothing worse than someone climbing over you while you're fast asleep.

I don't think any of the 787s have pods that don't have aisle access.

I think he was referring to the 5 unique 777's with the "studio" pods, which the OP might want to avoid if going CDG - YUL - CDG or YVR - LHR - YVR

Go with the "classic" pods. Everything else they offer is inferior. IMHO.

True - I've only flown the new product on the 777 HD. Scheduled on the 787 next week and plans changed.

I'm actually a big fan of the new (Dreamliner) product. If you're comparing the 787 J (executive) pod vs the old (classic) pods, I'd go with the Executive pod. The studio pods are not bad if you get a D|G seat, especially if you're flying with a partner.

Personally all the pods work for me...BUT, if you have a choice, I'd go Dreamliner. If it doesn't affect your travel plans too much definitely take the 787. The pod is wider in the shoulders which I found a bit annoying on the original pods.

Beyond that, the windows and climate control stuff really do work (or maybe it's just a placebo). At the very least the fact you can dim the cabin gradually, it's very soothing.

Have you been on the AC 787 in J? I'm skeptical you have.

+1. Honestly, I'd like to know why anyone prefers the 777 pods. I'd take the 788 pods in a heartbeat, and up my own copay to be in it!

not really even a conversation IMO. For sleeping, 787 seats seem wider, less confined, more padding and easy to sleep and long enough. I am also 6'3 and the classic pod is too short for me and feel like i am sleeping on an ironing board in a coffin.
More storage options, far superior and larger IFE, ability to look out the window are also pluses
The 787 seat seems much rooomier, and fly it again monday

I find the 787 pod has grown on me.

On the first flight, I wasn't so sure, but now I definitely would pick the new product over the worn Classic Pods. The sleeping surface is much more even, privacy is better IMO while also allowing conversation in the D/G seats if you're traveling with someone. Plus, the pressure, noise and humidity levels make a good enough difference for me on a long haul flight that I arrive more rested and less dehydrated.

I highly recommend the 787 ^
