Winter YEG FT get together

After a great get together this past January at YEG I thought I would try and gauge the interest in holding another similar event in Feb. or March so please chime in with your availability and/or interest.

Is there a preferred day of the week for a Do? I'm leaning toward a weekday as weekends can get filled with family, friends and other events.

While I know not everyone will be available at the same time are there ideal dates in late Feb. or early March we can find some common ground on? I'm away in HKG 16 - 24 Feb. but that's my only real time off in that period.

I'm already working on a venue for the get together but can't say too much as it isn't firmed up yet but hope to have something nailed down in the next month so we can firm up the date and leave as much lead team as possible so as many members as possible can make it out.

Are "out-of-towners" invited?

Always, even Calgarians.

Actually a few members from YYC did jump up to YEG for the past Jan. event and it was nice to have them join us and catch up over some drinks as I'd met them at previous events over the years.

I'm popping in to YEG on Thursday evening January 29th arriving at 18:40 if that would work.

Saturday (or maybe a Friday/Sunday if it's a long weekend in the US) means I'll come, other dates make it impossible.

I'd like to point out that there was a pretty cool do in CLE a while back that huge attendance with people from all over, because it was on a Saturday, and therefore did not conflict with work.

When you host these on a Tuesday night, don't you lose anyone who lives further than YYC?

That maybe a little early but a few locals could always hoist a few if you're game. If you are please let me know.

Some locals I know prefer weekday nights as their weekends can be busy with other activities, volunteering or family & friends. It may also come down to what works best for the venue as well as they may prefer a slower weekday over a busier weekend if they are hosting.

Just down the road in YQF, so depending on the date, may just drive up or if others are coming up from YYC - car pool it up?

Car pool, why gas is so cheap now! Can we car pool or do we have to fly up being F/F ?

Early March would be my vote. Out of town most of Jan and likely all of Feb.

I could probably do February, but dates are not firm. If you're into Cactus, try "100" (bar/restaurant) across the Westin. Head on a swivel..

I'd be in for representing YYC. Jan/Feb good for me... March is bad. SAP is right 100 is good option, or Sherlock Holmes for more casual pub fare.

I'd love to join (as long as people from your neighbor to the south are invited) so I'll keep an eye on this thread and see if I can swing it.

After spending two weeks in the Westin, I also like the MKT accross from Sherlock Holmes.
