Have you read the other thread where I posted a SUCCESSFULLY VALIDATED AND TICKETED award with the overland segment in it and still have 2 stopovers and a Point of Turnaround?

I also read about other examples right on the various threads in the AC forum, Everyone questioned such when such were posted. Yet those who tried and succeeded obviously enjoyed their trips as they never posted back their tickets were voided later.

My point is, there are real life DPs that some overland segments are allowed. Now just under what circumstances such would be validated by the system is anybody's guess.

If my proposed itinerary is bookable, then it would be much beneficial for everyone here. Sometimes we just have to think outside the box and then try. Then we know what works what doesn't.

Go read for your self - my friend's itinerary contains an "OJ" as she has a stopover at TPE, then again at HKG. POT is at MAA but she will fly out from BOM. Ticket was booked a few months for travel in less than a month's time at the beginning of January. Let's see if she can fly as ticketed.

The KEY is not how we think. The KEY is, whether Aeroplan system would validate it. If it does, like in my friend's case that she got a far better itinerary. Good for her did not listen to others including me, kept telling her it would not work, that if she wanted to fly out from BOM instead of MAA she needed to give up her stopovers.

Some extra city pairs MPM

It seems like if you have already flown a few sectors and then later call in to change, then the system disregards the already flown segments when repricing the new itinerary.

Ended up having to drop a sector as the system then calculated my new routing as over MPM when it should have been possible if I had made the change before flying it partially

Rep told me if I wanted the overland portion I would need to use MIA - MIA and gave up the MIA - FLL which is not an OJ but a co-terminal, as the ticketed itinerary has stopover 1 at VCE, turnaround at PER and stopover 2 at HKG. After some consideration we prefer to return to FLL (more convenient and more flights should UA screws up the flight, there are more subsequent flights for rebooking). You can see the ticketed itinerary in the reporting thread. It took a long time for the system to validate it and it was ticketed just before Aeroplan system crashed for several hours from noon till late afternoon on Sunday Jan 13.

Extra City Pairs for MPM

An itinerary such as MIA-LIS-VIE or VCE, then IST-SIN-SYD or BNE, would work. No need to go to PER if you dont want to. On the other hand the intra Australia flight is only 10K / 20K one way with AA miles so it is a good deal to go between PER and SYD. BA Avios works better for the hops in the East and South Australia, in coach - because BA treats QF intra Australia business class as first class and charges the first class pricing.

Only if you buy a ticket on United, are a Platinum or 1K member and credit to United. Or American credited to American. (that is to say, revenue based earning assuming a ~$10K ticket). You’d even earn 75K then!

Theres no way you can ever earn that much with Air Canada in a single trip.

If you just need 112,000 miles to redeem for something, signing up for an American Express Platinum card (via referral) is going to be MUCH easier than flying. To earn 112K miles by flying is going to take some significant doing, and will cost you a LOT of money - hope you realise that.

Oh... that's a tough one. Air Canada only considers Air Canada for its lifetime calculation, so basically your ONLY option is YYZ-SYD, YVR-SYD, YYZ-HKG, YVR-BNE pretty much. YYZ-SYD would give you just under 10K miles each way, so you'd need to fly that ticket 6 times round-trip - and I don't think I've seen it for under $7K per ticket or so, so that's $40-50K right there, lol. Why the urgency? Spend a few years to get it, no? Or are you trying to get in before AC decimates the program in 2020?

The Wiki lists YYZ SYD at 15540 so return that is 31,080 and with the 150 % for J that gets one to 46,620. YYZ PER is 18050 so return in J should be 54,150 or am I missing something?

No no ... you're confusing mileage earned with mileage received for flying.

This thread as a whole is about the mileage you're permitted to fly when spending 75K Aeroplan on economy award / 150K on business class award tickets.

What you're referring to is paying to earn mileage on a ticket, which is a completely different conversation. You will earn miles as per Great Circle Mapper - check mileage between the cities you want to fly to - and 150% will not earn you lifetime mileage as only base mileage will count towards lifetime.

Which makes me wonder then - how do you know you need 110K for lifetime? Is this because you've earned 880K Aeroplan so far? I'm afraid this will have absolutely nothing to do with lifetime Air Canada Altitude status... or any sort of lifetime status, in fact. That's just miles you can use to spend on flights. Or toasters in the Aeroplan store. This will not grant you lifetime Air Canada benefits.
