Congratulations, sure looks like you did a lot of homework to put this together. How much time have you allocated for this trip?

Thank you, the trip is just under one month. My stops are 5-7 days each. Will do train VIE-PRG-BUD and local round trip flight between MEL-SYD

Booked my first mini RTW for May 2020.
IAD - LIS TP J (15 hours layover)
LIS - PRG TP J STOP
PRG - IST TK J (13 hours layover)
IST - SGN TK J (17 hours layover)
SGN - SIN SQ J STOP
SIN - MEL SQ J DESTINATION
MEL - LAX UA J (10 hours layover)
LAX - YVR AC J (14 hours layover)
YVR - ORD AC J (5 hours layover)
ORD - IAD UA Y

Taxes - 291.61 + $30 booking fee pp

Originally, the plan was to come home from LAX, but the agent couldn't find any flights LAX - IAD. So had to route thru YVR then back down to make the routing work.

On a side note, had some miles left over so decided to book 1-way award also for June 2020.

ORD - NRT NH J (22 hours layover)
NRT - ICN OZ J (18 hours layover)
ICN - BKK TG J (20 hours layover)
BKK - DPS TG J (21 hours layover)
DPS - SIN SQ J (6 hours layover)
SIN - MLE SQ J Destination

Flying back home via SQ J (MLE - SIN - FRA - JFK with a stopover in FRA) using Krisflyer miles.

First mini "rtw"

With the upcoming changes I decided to take the plunge and book my first mini rtw (not actually rtw, considering I come back through Europe). Luckily after starting my career 2 years ago I was approved for ~6weeks vacay. After a few errors in my itinerary, I finally booked this:

YHZ - YUL - AC J
(6 hr layover)
YUL - ZRH - LX J
(4 hr layover)
ZRH - IST - TK J
(3 hr layover)
IST - BKK - TK J
(3 week stay) Destination

BKK - IST - TK J
(1.5 hr layover)
IST - FCO - TK J
(10 day stay) Stopover

FCO - SPU - OU X
(10 day stay) Stopover

SPU - ZRH - OU J
(3 hr layover)
ZRH - YUL - LX J
(3 hr layover)
YUL - YHZ - AC X

Total: 291.11 + 30

Really happy with the taxes, was ready for closer to $500-600. Now with the flights booked, time for some planning on what to do while there!

Very nice, when do you fly? I've been trying to find NH/SQ long haul space for a while now nice to see it's still there!

Booked my second RTW trip and realized I made some mistakes the first time around. Found this routing for 2 people for a Nov 2 week trip.

YYZ > WAW LO J
WAW > VIE LO J 22 HR LAYOVER
VIE > IST TK J
IST > DPS TK J DEST
DPS > SIN SQ J STOP
SIN > SGN SQ J STOP
SGN > TPE BR J
TPE > YYZ BR Y (waiting for J space to open up)

155,000 miles & $352.66 taxes including booking fee.

I just booked this semi-mini-RTW for our xmas/nye vacation...Surprised I was able to get all seats in J for 2 people during the busy season.

Dec 24
YYZ-HKG on AC
HKG-SIN on SQ (Stop for 3 days)
Dec 29
SIN-DPS on SQ (Stop) Will spend 5 nights at St.Regis Bali, then fly to Amanjiwo in Java
Jan 8/2020
DPS-TPE on Eva
TPE-NRT on EVA (Stop 5 days)
Jan 14/2020
NRT-ICN on Asiana
ICN-YYZ on AC

Only had to use 2 priority SE bookings. The surcharges/taxes was a bit higher, turned out to be $466 per person plus $30 service fee. But at least I got all the J segments I wanted with somewhat decent hours.
Now are there hotels at the TPE airport? I am getting into TPE at 9:20pm...and I fly out the next day at 7:55am. Would prefer to stay at a hotel closer to airport, or even onsite.
I wonder if I can have another stop at TPE for 1 day? or is that going over the limit. Say I fly into TPE at Jan 8, and stay in TPE Jan 9, and fly to NRT on Jan 10?

It's too late now, but I'd like to offer some advice for the future.

Since you're SE, changes are free.

Therefore, you can book anything online (either something close to what you want, or just YYZ-YUL in Y), then call in to change it to what you want. That avoids the $30 booking fee.
ffsim and asovse1 like this.

Yes, there is Novotel at TPE airport (shuttle) for overnight stay

If you can change (for free) and want to do a <24 hour layover at TPE, even better
