Agent 2 declared that a 3-hour layover in IST made it an Europe 2 award, Agent 4 happily booked it as Europe 1.

For whatever it's worth, AC/AE seem to be doing an equally poor job of communicating internally as externally.

Either way, don't take one agent's answer as gospel.
Its funny, because at FTU, many of the FFers (and bloggers) always praised how consistent and smart AP agents were compared to other loyalty programs since aside from US Airways AP was the only one who consistently manually priced out awards (which this new system now prevents). Although I have heard part of the reason toward this automatic system is to crackdown those who slipped through the cracks and got 'illegal' award tickets.

My understanding is the agents still have access to the legacy system but they are only supposed to use that for existing reservations prior to the switchover.

Were you able to get any of those actually booked? What an agent says is not gospel until the computer says yes or no. This is why many of the agents are now not giving out any info until they input your routing into the system and get your AP number for tracking purposes.

Nope was possible - I did ywg-ord-zrh-fra-sin-pek-nrt-HNL-den-ywg about 4 years ago for 120k miles all in F! Excellent trip.

Yes - two agents called it an invalid routing, two called it valid, but it did get booked.

YVR-YUL-IST-BRU outbound, TXL-IST-YUL-YYZ-YVR on the return.

The only downside was having to add the YUL-YYZ leg on the return - the IST-YUL flight lands just as the YUL-YVR flight is taking off, which means I would be >24hrs if I waited in YUL for the next one.

Did you get the YYZ-SYD MPM?

It frustrates me so much that if you do these exact same flights but start and end in YVR (like below) it's over MPM and not allowed.

YVR-SYD AC J Stop
SYD-ICN OZ J 20 hour layover
ICN-LHR OZ J Stop
LHR-YYZ AC J
YYZ-YVR AC J Stop

Is not allowed.

You win some, you lose some. From YVR, YVR-JNB mileage should be better than YYZ-JNB (unsure if new YYZ-JNB allows TPAC routings)

Thanks, I'll have to look at both of those!

It's interesting to see that the online tool allowed me to route DXB-(CA)-PEK-(AC)-YYZ for a total of 10216 miles. I was quite surprised you could go ME-Asia-NA.

Taxes were only $167, with $125 YQ. not sure how that came out

AE quoted MPM YYZ-SYD 15540

YYZ-YVR-SYD actual miles 9858
SYD-ICN-LHR-YYZ actual miles 14252

So you could go YYZ-SYD and back with a stop each way in Europe.
FWIW AE shows plenty of availability for TG F Europe to/from SYD.

you should be able to route via DXB on your YYZ-PER route, as its one of the furthest points from YYZ on the entire planet.

maybe something like this for low YQ
YYZ-YUL-IST-DXB-SIN-PER
shows as 13045 on gcmap which should work for YYZ-PER

if JNB is a must then you need to drop PEK and return via atlantic to fit DXB. if only ADD is a must then even YYZ-ADD-DXB-SIN-PER can probably work as its only 14770

Return TPAC and return TATL on one booking?

Looks like the following is bookable on the AP website:

YHZ-YUL-YVR-SYD
SYD-YVR-YUL-LHR
LHR-YHZ

The MPM for YHZ-SYD could allow a return trip across the Atlantic after a return trip across the Pacific.

160,000 points all in AC J, YQ is $1,800

I've read the wiki and I can't wrap my head around it.

I'd like to go to europe next august hitting Amsterdam, Vienna, Rome, London and Frankfurt.
We'd like to end in Frankfurt after a train ride from London.

Where do I even start?
