By the way as mentioned upthread, has quail ever been offered? What's the most "exotic" meat ever offered by AC?

I remember there was discussion of the days of AC F Class on the 747.
Here's a fascinating thread.
Memories of AC First Class Service on 747

And here are a couple of posts from July 2013:
I often operated AC793 - the evening flight to LAX and back the next morning on AC790. It was a 747-200 Combi (74M) for years and was the inaugural route for the 747-400 Combi (74E) in April of 1992. This was preferred flight of the stars and had a very elaborate First Class service including:
>Champagne on the Ground (Was duty-paid and was boarded in a silver bucket)
>Full Amenity Kits
>Hot H'ors D'oeuvres served in a copper skillet with cocktail sauce (seconds of course)
>Very well stocked bar including Creme de Menthe, B&B, Maple Liqueur
>Salad & Choice of Appetizers
>Carved Rack of Lamb/Prime Rib/Roast Guinea Fowl with accompaniments
>Cheese & Fruit Trolley
>Full-Sized Fresh Fruit Cheesecakes and Ice Cream or Frozen Parfait
>Chocolates
The morning flight to LAX (AC791) offered the above service and was preceded by a full Continental Breakfast.

......Even if the seats were not up to today's standards, the service was excellent. As has been pointed out, meals were served from a trolley ("Would you like another lamb chop, Mr. David?") on fine English china; the cutlery was silver not stainless; and Champagne was served upon embarkation and, if desired, throughout the flight.
There are some interesting photos in this collection and one of the F food service.

I know this isn't meant to be a comparison thread, but...
I'm on Eva right now, just finishing up my 6-course meal, beautifully served by attentive FA, having chosen my entree on-line 36 hours before. That, plus PJ's, and wifi all the way from BKK to LHR shows AC has a bit of catching up to do.
And I recall on my last long-haul AC flight a week ago, the Hawksworth signature dish (duck with ginger rice) was nothing special; I didn't finish it. OTOH the G&T's were appreciably more generous!

It's not a route I do often, but on the SCL-EZE-SCL leg, there is a significant number of local boarding Customers who appreciate the offerings during the meal period. Flying time is often much shorter than scheduled and it's probably one of our busiest sectors when full.

Honestly, I would have preferred the snack basket on Transcons than the chilled meal trays(cheaper also I think?). But that's just me.
