Complimentary wine tasting in YYZ Domestic MLL

American Express is sponsoring complimentary chair massages and wine tasting. Massage area is set up in the back part of the lounge (close to the showers). As per the massage therapist today, here are the details:

Massage days available: Mon-Fri
Hours available: 2-8pm
From now until Dec 2014
15 min appointments

Enjoy!

In the lounge as we speak!

Won't have time to do the massage due to a tight-ish connection.

Will check out the wine.

Wolf Blass Grey Label Shiraz. Not to shabby.

I had one in the domestic MLL at YYZ in mid-August. The guy was nice and said most people walked past and didn't stop to see what it was about. It is behind a partition area, you need to be a Amex card holder. I however did not need to show my card even though I offered.

Was nice to have before flying AC 33 YYZ-SYD!

What's the deal with wine tasting in the MLL?

So once in a while I see this wine tasting offer in the MLL (usually in the YYZ dom MLL).

- it seemed like they were promoting some regional wines from ON
- the glassware had an "American Express" branding
- I assume somebody must be paying AC to be allowed to promote stuff in the MLL

The wine was quite good and the attendants were pretty friendly. Unfortunately they were only handing out tiny glasses. And the way it was handled, I doubt many of the guests remembered what wine or brand it was.

The marketing goal doesn't seem entirely clear. So does anyone know what the deal is with these wine tastings?

That's why it's called wine tasting.

Yes, my comment was more tongue-in-cheek.

Haven't seen the massage chairs in a long time.

This is just an ongoing biz dev btw ac and amex, and like many big companies, the marketers are looking to spend their budget before year end irregardless of roi and efficacy.

The champagne they sampled last year was exceptional that ac likely corked it, as they are too cheap to provide proper permanent bubbly, in their cad based lounges. And don't want expectations to get too unpickled.

Ac even used amex wine glasses as their own for an extended period of time, since they were too cheap to buy their own.
