BP - Airline Usage

Does the # under "Airline Usage" in our boarding passes signify which # you are once OLCI becomes available? If it is, I'm shocked that when I OLCI to the second to score an eUP (the theory that it matters), I'm not 1st...as i'm literally watching the second hand. Or is AC IT off from a quorum of time perspective.

Someone connecting through a city will have an opportunity to OLCI prior to someone departing from that city on the same flight.

Thanks - can you please explain? Let's say my flight is at 5pm EST tomorrow. That means, irrespective of time zone, I can check in at 5pm EST equivalent today. How do connections play into this? Thanks!

If someone is connecting onto your flight, then when they check in for their first flight, they'll also be checked in for your flight.

Gotcha. Thanks!

I've checked in for flights 36 hours before departure and been ~60.

It really depends on what the flight is, and whether most people are connecting, and where from.

Overseas connections will trump you by quite a bit, i.e. if you are checking in for
YVR-YYZ at the 24 hour mark, someone else may have checked in 24 hours earlier
on a SIN-PEK-YVR-YYZ connection.

They have actually started putting limits on this. On monday I was doing LHR-YYZ (12:05pm) and then YYZ - YVR (8:15pm) and when I tried to check-in at 12:05 in London on sunday it threw me an error message saying my 2nd flight wasn't available for checkin yet. I had to wait until 2:15pm before it would work.

The other thing to consider is whether you are on a direct, non-stop flight or not. For example, AC8527 goes YUL-YOW-YWG. If you are only flying YOW-YWG, people flying YUL-YOW or YUL-YWG will have had the opportunity to check-in ahead of you

I've had this experience also. Both checking in and requesting an eUp.

That sounds like OLCI.
If you are at an airport, checking in for your flight, it can usually be done.

When flying YXU-YYZ I am often #1. when doing YYZ-YXU on the last flight of the night, even when checking in 24 hours from yow I am often in the 20s.
