Are these seats sold out of YVR or NY? When CX switches aircraft and there is no F class, their system shows the cabin sold out.

Seats were available as I was looking at a RT booking for the YVR-HKG segment.
A couple of examples. Obviously other dates are different.
CX889 on Jan 20 is F3 A2 / CX888 on Jan 27 is F4 A3
CX889 on Feb 11 is F1 A0 / CX888 on Feb 20 is F2 A1

Incidentally, while flipping through this information, the lowest-density 777 on the market is a virtual tie between BA's 224 (14F/48J/40PY-122Y) and Etihad (8F/40J/177Y), while the highest is actually *not* AC's 777HD (36J/24PY/398Y) but Air France, who cram in one more row of Economy for a bone-crushing 14J/32PY/422Y on their "Caribbean" configuration.
The only note in Air France's favour is that they're mainly flying that awful beast on routes in the 7-to-9-hour range.

And what do you want to bet that the only reason they have F is for JFK-HKG? If people were paying for F out of YVR, airlines wouldn't be dropping it.

CX actually run their *lowest*-density 777-ER on 888/889, at 275 pax, and their highest-density on 838-839, at 398.

A few other also offer 777s in the 425/450 range. It is the new norm.

I'm not convinced that the only reason they have F on the 888/889 is because of JFK. They could drop F on one of their 4 daily flights and it likely wouldn'd be missed.

That Caribbean AF 777 config is used on CDG-YUL. In the summer they have 2 a day and throw in a third A340 or 747 for good measure. It was one of the reasons AC ordered the HDs given that they were #4 carrier on Canada's second busiest long-haul route (from the Bens in the now defunct official AC page).
Was talking about this with the SD on Friday's flight and she noted that in many places, the 777HD carries enough people to be counted as a village.

Well JFK-HKG has 4 flights (on the random day I checked in January) and all 4 have F. 3 non-stop and 1 via YVR. The EWR-HKG does not have F.

Is there a single route O/D Canada that would be profitable for a true F cabin (Not the N/A version, but a real Asian/Middle East airline version)?
I have the feeling any airline currently offering a true F to and from Canada is doing it because they have no choice fleet wise.
We are the poor little cousins of the G8.

In an attempt to keep this thread relevant..... C-FIVQ is scheduled to be back out of maintenance for HKG-YYZ tomorrow. Assuming it operates as scheduled, wiki to be updated!

It won't be an issue to operate as it'll only be sold to 349 anyway. Once they are all converted I don't know if AC plans on actually scheduling the 400-seater on 15/16.
