IMHO......It doesn't matter if it's a 777 or 788/9, you will hear the galley noise in 1A/K and often in 2A/K. It really depends on whether your crew are cart & door-slammers. And the curtains are often not kept closed with pax and crew going back and forth. Same applies to seats close to the mid-galley (on the 777s that have them). YMMV and wear ear-plugs

Yes to more leg leg space.

Some people complain about the galley light and noise. I don't mind it. As 24L says, YMMV.

More foot space, but the footrest doesn’t go all the way to the wall, so if you sleep on your back, your foot “falls” through the footrest. I’ve noticed this on 1A and 1K on both the 777 and 787. Drives me crazy.

Forgive the lousy quality of this image; it’s from a video I took of my foot falling through the footrest

Ok, thanks everyone. I won’t rush for 1A then and stay put in 2A.

Does 9K have the same void as 1K on the 77W? I'm fairly tall and hoping to find a seat with a larger footwell so I can finally sleep on my back.

Thanks

Yes, it does.

| Edit: re-reading the original post, it's not clear to me if you're asking about the "void" (at the edge?) of the foot rest that ffsim was talking about above - or if you're asking about the gap above the foot rest (found in 1 A/K and 9 A/K) which gives you more foot space. I don't know about the "void". I do know that 9 A/K has additional space above the foot rest, and I prefer it so that I can sleep on my back.

Sorry for the confusion - yes I meant the "void" (at the edge) that ffsim was talking about. However it is good to know that you have not found any issues with 9 A/K. 1K is open so I'm wondering if that would be a better seat to switch to (since 9K gets a lot of activity throughout boarding).

Thanks for the help!

I'm a fan of both 1A/K and 9 A/K, due to the extra height of the foot area. Personally I have never had any issues with a void on the side of either seat.
