Recently flew one of the new birds, FIN 748 C-FJZS
Yes, 777-333ER or more fondly known as the HD.
Delivered April 26.
New plane smell.
The new lavs are similar to the 788/9s with no-touch faucets and the different color finish on the sink counters and floors.
The galley has new food carts and they seem to be made of slightly different materials and don't make as much noise. Nice finish too.
For some reason, the main cabin looks a little nicer than the refurb, but I can't explain why.
Stuff is still relatively clean-ish and in good shape. There is quite a bit of dirt along the window ledges and the lavs have dirt on the floor and this was before the flight departed.
Still, nice to be on new metal.

Are the food carts aircraft specific? I thought those things just randomly rotated through the system together with those cans (not certain the correct term) from catering that slide into the bulkhead locations.

ATLAS size is used by about 80% of carriers but not by all carriers.

AC carts always seem to have an AC logo. So I would thing they belong to the airline.

One of them would make a nice restaurant.

That was when the economy still looked reasonably OK. Might change in the current context. Although cheap fuel plays on the other side.

US may marginally be. EU, perhaps. UK might have been before brexit.
But China surely can't spend their way out of the mess forever. Just looking at government-subsidized empty real estate in China looks scary.
So in the larger scheme of things, I guess I would agree with the BoC guy. We'll get all badly hurt by a China crash. Only question being when.

The big risk to AC is a Canadian consumer crash. Which appears to be at least on the cusp of occurring as housing prices start to really collapse after a few years of stagnation, especially in YVR/YYZ. Since the planes are largely full of leisure/discretionary travelers these days (the business traveler is an endangered species!), delaying narrowbody (737) deliveries, retiring the 320 fleet, and letting the widebodies fill in the gap on the domestic transcons is definitely a valid strategy until things pick up.

The big risk to AC these days is really a global downturn in Air Travel.
