Overall, it is survivable. Could use an extra inch or two of legroom (I sat at the back of the bus), but it wasn't too bad. IFE could have used a little work as it couldn't track the movies I wanted to watch properly... Kept mixing up the titles. But other than that, not bad. One piece of advice, if you are not in a preferred seat, grab the dual seats at the back of the bus. Nearly had two seats to myself if it wasn't so packed. Window seat also has some additional storage space to the side.
How long was your flight. From where to where?

PEK to YYZ. They managed to do it in 12.5 hours.

Note, I am 6' tall.. Too much taller than that and non-preferred seats
not recommend.

Wow. Well, I have nothing to say! Perhaps I should stop shelling out for high fares and just pay Flex and give the 3-4-3 Y config a shot!

I am 5'11" and I will not be caught dead in one of those seats again for anything over 2 hours. To each his own.

I don't see what the problem is. I mean, the additional space in PY would be nice, but as long as you get up once in a while, it is livable. That said, in a few years when the cushions aren't as firm, it will probably be a different story. I don't see them having a lifespan of more than a few years at best.

Enjoy. If it's good for you, we have no business trying to convince you otherwise. Please return the courtesy.

Actually, I am not trying to convince anyone. Wasn't trying to and not sure how you got that impression that I was. I am just curious as to why so many people on this board have such a hate on for these seats, making it as if sitting in Y is akin to torture.

To me, while you can't compare Y to J, so many people on this board make it out to be inhumane. The impression I got after reading here was that the seat was so tight that you were unable to move. After experiencing the actual product, I don't see what why people say it's so bad.

LOL. I wouldn't go that far. If you can and are willing to pay for a higher class, go for it.

So far better than my last SQ flight. Got stuck on a regional plane... The seat was sorely in need of replacing.

Ah well, YMMV...

If you fly a lot, flying Y is torture. Some of us, myself included, would include the 777HD J seats as pretty damn close to torture as well.

Also, in between being overweight, 5'11 or taller, or having minor back issues, you've covered a good chunk of the population, so Y flying isn't particularly kind to these types of flyers.

I mean if it means save 100 per hour for me... Can't really justify it any other wise. But since TPAC business class is getting cheaper everyday. Maybe oneday it will actually be 3000 round trip. By then it would be worth it for me lmao.

Wait nvm... it's already 3200.. uhm... tempting but still not worth..

More power to you. Your enjoyment of Y takes nothing away from those of us who can't physically stand it. In fact, it reduces demand pressure on PY and J. Rock on!
