Flying While Impaired.
 

Am America West aircraft was recalled to the terminal just as it was preparing for takeoff. The Captain and First officer were breathalised, charged with impaired flying
and arrested.

I've had a few landings where I've wondered if the AC pilots were drinking from the Bus. Class drink inventory!!!

Well, at BWI, AC (Jazz) shares gate space with America West -- and when their CRJ recently needed a mechanic to look it over, they called on America West to provide the essential service. So this may be a little closer than comfortable. Drunk Pilot AND co-pilot, ugh!

Maybe they were drinking in the MLL, and AC were serving doubles.

It has to do with safety and this is common to all carriers

HP does have the counter right next to us but I've been on vacation, would have liked to had a prime seat to view that fiasco. Apparently it was the security agents who first notified authorities that there was a problem. The pilots in question started to hassle them about their coffee not being allowed through. The really sad thing is that this was a 10:30AM flight!

I suspect that to the pilots, it was really 22:30PM of the previous day (or 34h30, if that's clearer). Which would be of concern in terms of sleepiness even if not inebriation.

You guys should not be so quick to use out of date perceptions on HP.

Remember that these are the guys that are leading the reforms to ticket restrictions by the major airlines in the USA.

That's true, you do have a good point. Thanks to them, I've taken advantage of great fares on AA to the west coast without any advance purchase or minimum stay requirements.
