How early can I check in a bag with Air Canada?

I will be flying from Detroit to Vancouver,BC with a 10 hour layover in Toronto. I want to be able to visit Toronto and see the city, but I don't want to carry my bag with me as that will be a hassle. Is it possible to check in a bag at the Air Canada counter 10 hours before the flight departs? Or at the very least, are there places in airports where they store luggage?

Thanks

When you originally check in a bag, it's 4 hours. However, you've already checked the bag in Detroit and it should be tagged to your final destination. After you go through Canada Customs at Pearson, just drop it off at the connecting baggage area.

If the bag is not tagged all the way to Vancouver, you will have to to to the airline counter to check it in again, and the 4 hr limit will probably kick in again.

If you're SE, I'm sure you could leave the bag with the concierge to check in for you

Seriously, do you want to leave your bag alone in Bankrupt Detroit?

You think some unsecured creditor will snatch it?

I am bringing this thread back for a similar question, a friend is arriving at LAX from another US city at noon with AA and departing on a separate ticket at 6pm with Air Canada to YVR.
During this 6-hour in between they want to visit the beach. How soon can they check in their luggage with AC at LAX? Can they do it immediately upon arrival from the first flight (T-6 from second, separately ticketed flight), so they can enjoy their quick visit to the beach? The friend has no status with AC.

Alternatively, the can book both legs with AA in one ticket and that would let them check the bag through, right?

This question came up in this thread and IIRC, another one as well.

Some of the suggestions or points made here are valid. Note post 15.

Question: Earliest check-in and changing terminals airside at LAX

Earliest check-in and changing terminals airside at LAX

In the other thread, I recall discussion on whether the amount of time between flights was enough to go to and from the beach (depends on traffic, time of day and getting out of the airport loop and back to LAX in time to check-in etc

I'll assume if they were on a single AA ticket, their bags would be checked to their final destination and that would be one less thing to deal with.

Others here can confirm - or post the question on the AA forum.
