EUpgrade order query

Can someone tell me how an E75 nominee might trump a S100 in the upgrade lottery list? Other than fare class, etc

Nothing definitive, but possibilities:

Arrived on a connection.
1, 2 or 3 Million Miler.
VIP card holder.
Celebrity.

Maybe they were standby on a biz fare?

By accident

Upgrade then miss connection due to late 1st segment of all AC booking, get rebooked on next available

from what I can tell bumps everyone unless they are paid j Happened twice to me in 2013, once alone, once with wife, who has no status but on same booking

The connection issue has been mentioned. I suspect this describes a situation where the lower status guy was already upgraded on a longer leg, so that he "paid" already and it makes sense that he gets the upgrade on a shorter connecting flight.

Does an E50 MMer really get the upgrade ahead of SEs on the same fare?

The one time I know of this happening the person was put directly in J and not gate upped....so there would be no way to know that an E75 beat and S100.

I like to use my 35k tag on my carry-on to confuse fellow 100k as to why they didn't get an upgrade :D

My cover was blown once when I was exiting the flight and the SD told me to try not to fly too much.

What I was informed was that I purchased my ticket after the E75 nominee therefore they were higher in the queue.....baffling

Does not make any sense.

They invented an answer just to make you go away. Most likely he was connecting.

That's probably a simplified way of saying "fare class". But status normally trumps fare class. Probably a connecting flight thing.

So what was weird is that they told me that the E75 upgrade cleared before mine because they were a nominee and that they reserved their flight ahead of me whereas I bought my flight 7 days in advance.

Also, interestingly with R +1 and 19 seats for sale my upgrade only cleared last minute at the gate.....

If R>0, then if an E75 requests an upgrade, he will get it confirmed. If he is a nominee of an SE and the SE requests the upgrade when R>0, he gets the upgrade.

So it sounds like the issue here is, how come your upgrade was not confirmed if indeed when you requested it was R1? Or did the E75 grab it when it was R1 and then when you requested, it had dropped to R0?

The nomination by an SE would not make any difference once the request went to airport control.

I wonder if the E75 was smart and checked EF or the like and saw R>0 pop up and took matters into his own hands and get the eUP processed by calling in before the flight closed. (Which I have done).

Or is the OP saying the E75 was called at the gate for his upgrade and then he was called shortly after?
