Upgrade confirmation & co-pay

Just requested the first upgrade of the year, and got a Waitlist notification. This got me thinking, if I have to pay the $500 co-pay, would it show as 'Confirmed' before I had made the payment?

Has anybody requested and received an upgrade and paid the co-pay yet? How does that process work? I assume you must be asked to pay on check-in, or at the gate even.

There are no co-pays until next month, so nobody really knows how it will actually work.

I think the inferred way it will work is give your CC when they take your e-credits.

They only charge that card when the upgrade clears

I'm sure you are right. I wonder how this works for biz travellers booked through a TA - assuming that the employer will pay the copay which mine assuredly will not. I suppose one will have to get the TA to request the e-up and pay the copay. Or pay it an expense it I suppose.
