Need help picking flights and classes please
Hello and thank you in advance for your help. I will be flying to Europe in march and need some advice as to what class to take and how I should book to get the most out of my flight.
Booking Air Canada March 3, 2014 YWG-YUL/YYZ-FRA Apr 10, 2014 FCO-FRA/MUC?-YWG To me it doesn't really matter where I stop as long as I get to my destination. With that being said, I am very tall so I would like to pick my seat ahead of time for the international flights so I can get emergency exit row or something else with more leg room. I also wouldn't mind stopping in the Maple Leaf Lounge before the international flights as well. Currently looking at tango or flex for booking with air canada. Is is worth paying the extra money? Will I gain anything like pre selecting my seat for free ahead of time. From what I have read there isn't really any advantage to booking flex. Thanks |
There are undoubtedly a lot of people who can comment on these flights, but everyone's priorities are different and depend a lot on how much certain comforts are worth. Everyone has different values and resources available to them.
In relation to the lounge access, presuming that you are not Altitude Elite, you can't buy a Maple Leaf Lounge pass on a tango fare any more, I don't think, so that would require Flex. You may be better off arranging your credit card affairs to have lounge access. If you buy Flex, I think the seat selection will be included so that will solve itself but for a fair bit more money. It depends on what it's all worth to you. |

Excuse me canadianfarmer, but do you by any chance raise canadiancows on your farm? :p

You could always purchase access to a Plaza Premium lounge instead. I think it's $25? I've found them to be about as good (if not better than) as the Maple Leaf Lounges. If you do decide you want to get into the MLL on the way back to Canada, keep in mind that MUC doesn't (to my knowledge) have one.

Flex really isn't worth it if you have no chance of upgrade.
These are the fees for buying preferred/bulkhead seats. Most of us here get them as part of our status if flying flex, but I have paid, before I had status or doing long flight in tango. http://www.aircanada.com/en/travelin...rredseats.html |

Heck, why *A? You could probably do DL through MSP. Or some other option. You haven't really told us what you are/are not looking for. If you've got the cash to flash, practically any airline will put you in an exit row/bulkhead seat. |

Thanks Please let us know if you have any status with AC, status with any *A airlines (e.g. *G), and how flexible with stopovers, and what FF program you like to credit your miles to. Give us these details and we'll be happy to help. |
