Cabin Layout

Interior Specs can be found here https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/home/fly/onboard/fleet.html

- Window seats may feel narrower to come as the armrests are placed "into" the "curvature" of the cabin.
- Seats with no windows feel even more narrower as there is no space created by the curvature of window.
- All bulkhead seats have very limited legroom.
- Seats 15A, 16A, 16F, 17A and 17F have limited windows.
- Exit rows 19 and 20 have more legroom than regular preferred seats.

Routes

The 737 MAX is designated to replace the A320-series. Based on announcements and schedule updates, the following specific routes will be operated by the 737 MAX in future:

YYZ-LAX (periodic flights)
YYZ-SNN (new route)
YUL-DUB (new route)
YYZ/YUL-KEF (replacing Rouge A319)
YYT-LHR (replacing Mainline A319)
YHZ-LHR (replacing Mainline B767)
Hawaii Routes YVR/YYC (replacing Rouge B767)
Many domestic trunk routes (YYZ, YVR, YUL, YYC) now operated by 7M8, replacing A320 family

Having the thing depend upon one and only one notoriously unreliable primary sensor (these, including pitot, are invariably the weakest link in computer-based controls) was borderline criminal, the remedy (or more accurately the symptom relief stuff) being worse than the disease.
Also -- actually charging extra for the capability to warn pilots of a problem with that critical sensor.

Garneau just announced that 7M8 and 7M9 are banned in Canada based on "new information" from satellite tracking data suggesting a possible (although not proven) similarity to LionAir.

Searches generally on matrix etc., where I can exclude Embraer garbage, 7M8s, etc.
If using ac.com, hit display options, check aircraft type.

Very bad PR decision from AC and Westjet to wait for the government ban IMO...

A lot of the SFO-YYZ/YUL flights use Max. I wonder if UA might/could operate some of those temporarily.

I'm unable to watch the new conference unfortunately. Is this effective immediately?

Yup. Canceled mine yesterday. Not out of fear of the Max on my part (but my companion certainly wasn’t going to fly) but more out of the belief that this would happen and wanting to get it done before the chaos of aircraft shuffling and cancelations began. Glad I got in before the mad rush.

Same for many Caribbean flights ... how quickly can they get news to passengers?

Wow. How weak and gutless of Transport Canada.

Pandering to unfounded hysteria because a bunch of third world airlines can't train their crews properly. Let's dumb down to their level, shall we?

Once again the human species is displaying that it has not evolved from animals scurrying at the sound of thunder. The gods must be against us and this is their sign.

I'm embarrassed as a Canadian.
ffsim and jaysona like this.

Well, you can still drive to the closest US Airport and take a 737MAX here if you wish so...
