Cabin Layout

Interior Specs can be found here https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/home/fly/onboard/fleet.html

- Window seats may feel narrower to come as the armrests are placed "into" the "curvature" of the cabin.
- Seats with no windows feel even more narrower as there is no space created by the curvature of window.
- All bulkhead seats have very limited legroom.
- Seats 15A, 16A, 16F, 17A and 17F have limited windows.
- Exit rows 19 and 20 have more legroom than regular preferred seats.

Routes

The 737 MAX is designated to replace the A320-series. Based on announcements and schedule updates, the following specific routes will be operated by the 737 MAX in future:

YYZ-LAX (periodic flights)
YYZ-SNN (new route)
YUL-DUB (new route)
YYZ/YUL-KEF (replacing Rouge A319)
YYT-LHR (replacing Mainline A319)
YHZ-LHR (replacing Mainline B767)
Hawaii Routes YVR/YYC (replacing Rouge B767)
Many domestic trunk routes (YYZ, YVR, YUL, YYC) now operated by 7M8, replacing A320 family

Did you see the size of the forward galley while boarding? They have every right to complain about “no space at all.”

Meal service on TATL flights for 150+ Y pax is going to be a real joy.
ffsim and Fiordland like this.

Toothpaste coloured!!!!!

Can they make one in the old toothpaste colour? I really like that colour, as it is quite unique and you know it's an AC aircraft immediately when you see it .

Maybe someday way in the future they'll paint one in a toothpaste "retro" colour scheme like the TCA A319!!

They use to do hot meals on domestic routes going way back. The A320 and even DC9s. However these 737 look like they are setup to serve a similar complement to A321 with the same space as a DC9.

Maybe the micro galleys forecast the end of Y hot meal service on shorter TATLs?

The micro galleys forecast the introduction of the rouge in-flight experience to cabin crews

Oddly, YYC-YYZ is now almost all 7M8 aircraft for winter except for the AC10 flight on the 763 and the odd 321/320. All the more reason to avoid connecting in YYZ?

I rode the 737 Max YYZ-YVR last week in J. Also had a great chat with crew, and walked around the plane . observations:
- galley and toilet are very small. crew thinks things will take longer because of the space constraint
- J seats are good. i like the leg rest and larger screens
- preferred seats are bearable for long flights. the good thing is there are a lot of them.
- regular economy seats will be hell.

Looks like next winter YYC-YYZ has zero 7M8.

Going to DXB at the end of the month, to avoid the 737MAX, I choose to backtrack to YVR from YYC and fly the 787 instead to YYZ.

No different as I fly to FRA/MUC/CPH to avoid Rouge to LIS!

We all do silly things eh!

A huge annoyance at present as it's effectively eliminated wifi on a major tcon route. OTOH, I'm finding myself enjoying the new J seats and IFE.

Do you prefer the new J seats to the old Airbus seats?

I'd say yes. The leg rest, storage space and power plug placement are great, and the comfort is equal as best I can tell (that may be different after a few years of wear of course). In particular, I found the moved power outlet made it much easier to get out from the window, as you're not knocking into power adaptors and wires.

According to a captain that chatted with some passengers during a 737Max flight last week it may be a while. The engineering company in Kelowna had the first fin for 2 months and couldn’t finish the work. It requires a hole to be cut in the frame and that is non trivial. He had a good story about WS binning a planr by cutting the frame by “mistake” during their first satellite reception install. Anyways his claim is that it is still in the hands of the engineers. My read was that it could be several months yet before these aircraft get wifi.
