Cabin Layout

Interior Specs can be found here https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/home/fly/onboard/fleet.html

- Window seats may feel narrower to come as the armrests are placed "into" the "curvature" of the cabin.
- Seats with no windows feel even more narrower as there is no space created by the curvature of window.
- All bulkhead seats have very limited legroom.
- Seats 15A, 16A, 16F, 17A and 17F have limited windows.
- Exit rows 19 and 20 have more legroom than regular preferred seats.

Routes

The 737 MAX is designated to replace the A320-series. Based on announcements and schedule updates, the following specific routes will be operated by the 737 MAX in future:

YYZ-LAX (periodic flights)
YYZ-SNN (new route)
YUL-DUB (new route)
YYZ/YUL-KEF (replacing Rouge A319)
YYT-LHR (replacing Mainline A319)
YHZ-LHR (replacing Mainline B767)
Hawaii Routes YVR/YYC (replacing Rouge B767)
Many domestic trunk routes (YYZ, YVR, YUL, YYC) now operated by 7M8, replacing A320 family

I believe the first 737 MAX delivery to AC is sometime later this month. However, when I tried searching for more information on the exact date, I was not able to find it anywhere.

Does anyone know? Anyone know about the first revenue flight also?

I would've thought there'll be more hype about it but it seems to be fairly low key.

Thanks.

apologies if this has already been discussed but I couldn't bring myself to read the past four years of posts to this thread.

I did YHZ-LHR last week and one of the fa's said that this time next year YHZ-LHR will be the 737.

I will miss the pods and 2-3-2 seating, but I got thinking about the amount of cargo on that route...each time I fly, they appear to loading tons of cargo onto the 767. Surely the 737 can't accommodate the amount of cargo on that route.

About 1/3 the volume, according to Wikipedia, depending on subtypes.

But maybe they will go from 5-7 days a week? I would not be shocked if AC makes more money moving lobster from Halifax to London than they do moving people, and John Risley might really care about higher frequency routing.

Agreed. That huge angular fin looks so bad.

Not so bad if compared with the squat original 737. Really short and fat looking.

Stick them a 300% duty.

If none of the flights cost is attributed to the cargo, you might be right.
But if the revenue from a 200lb passenger was only $200, I doubt that the Lobster is giving $1/pound revenue.
That would be really expensive Lobster.

Really? Retails here at what $16/pound or more. Even $5/pound might fly.

The latest Navi edition (fall) is now saying December. AC fleet page still says October. Maybe things have slipped?

Lobsters eat very few KitKats and accumulate 0 AP miles.

Lobster is an expensive delicacy in Europe (as they don't have any) so is priced accordingly. The revenue may be surprising. Growing up as a Euro-kid I only recall having it a few times before moving to Canada at 29.

However, not to drift too far OT, I am intrigued by the fact that the 767 carries a lot of cargo relative to the amount of passenger's baggage. It can't all be lobster...

Actually there is European lobster and it's more expensive. Whether true or not, considered better.

Recently Sweden was arguing that Canadian lobster import should be forbidden because somehow a North American one had been caught and there supposedly was a concern that it might displace local ones. Ultimately unsuccessfully.
