Cabin Layout
Interior Specs can be found here https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/home/fly/onboard/fleet.html
- Window seats may feel narrower to come as the armrests are placed "into" the "curvature" of the cabin.
- Seats with no windows feel even more narrower as there is no space created by the curvature of window.
- All bulkhead seats have very limited legroom.
- Seats 15A, 16A, 16F, 17A and 17F have limited windows.
- Exit rows 19 and 20 have more legroom than regular preferred seats.
Routes
The 737 MAX is designated to replace the A320-series. Based on announcements and schedule updates, the following specific routes will be operated by the 737 MAX in future:
YYZ-LAX (periodic flights)
YYZ-SNN (new route)
YUL-DUB (new route)
YYZ/YUL-KEF (replacing Rouge A319)
YYT-LHR (replacing Mainline A319)
YHZ-LHR (replacing Mainline B767)
Hawaii Routes YVR/YYC (replacing Rouge B767)
Many domestic trunk routes (YYZ, YVR, YUL, YYC) now operated by 7M8, replacing A320 family

Not to worry, AC stopped pretending Rouge was only for low-cost routes ages ago.

United found issues in their inspection as well. I am now hesitant to fly direct to YEG as it's mostly served by 7M8 via AC. I went out of my way to fly A321 to YYC for my mom travel as well. I will probably do a YYC connection both ways, need segments anyways.
I think this is the last straw for me. Max is going on my block list permanently... maybe even 787 as well if Boeing keeps it up.

And not sure what your issue with 787 could be. Any plane still painted in toothpaste colours has obviously shown its reliability.

787 also had plenty of production issues since 2019 that led to deliveries being held back. This company has really fell from grace.

Oh? Hadn’t heard about any problems with MCAS for like 5 years, must have missed something.

AC likely would have had 7M9s by now. I believe they converted some to MAX8s and cancelled the rest, as it turns out, in favour of the A321XLRs

The weird part is that the design is no different than what is used in the 737-900 (NG), which has flown for decades without such incident.

It's not really much comfort to say "it only affects the 737 MAX 9, not the 737 MAX 8" when the cause of these problems is clearly that Boeing has no quality control in it's factory lines. I'm not flying on any 737 MAX and I won't let my family fly on them either. How many manufacturing issues is Boeing allowed to have before enough is enough? Are they still going to get an exemption for the 737 MAX 7 after all of this?
Air Canada should not have these planes in their fleet.

With multiple issues with various 737 MAX models, from the MCAS catastrophe to recent airworthiness advisories over loose screws in the rudder controls, to this latest plug blowout to multiple reports of airlines finding manufacturing debris inside various components including the fuel tanks, I don't think safety concerns around these aircraft are completely unwarranted. We hear of one issue after another with the 737 MAX, and little or nothing concerning aircraft produced by Airbus or Embraer. Personally, I do try to avoid them.
