Cabin Layout

Interior Specs can be found here https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/home/fly/onboard/fleet.html

- Window seats may feel narrower to come as the armrests are placed "into" the "curvature" of the cabin.
- Seats with no windows feel even more narrower as there is no space created by the curvature of window.
- All bulkhead seats have very limited legroom.
- Seats 15A, 16A, 16F, 17A and 17F have limited windows.
- Exit rows 19 and 20 have more legroom than regular preferred seats.

Routes

The 737 MAX is designated to replace the A320-series. Based on announcements and schedule updates, the following specific routes will be operated by the 737 MAX in future:

YYZ-LAX (periodic flights)
YYZ-SNN (new route)
YUL-DUB (new route)
YYZ/YUL-KEF (replacing Rouge A319)
YYT-LHR (replacing Mainline A319)
YHZ-LHR (replacing Mainline B767)
Hawaii Routes YVR/YYC (replacing Rouge B767)
Many domestic trunk routes (YYZ, YVR, YUL, YYC) now operated by 7M8, replacing A320 family

The guy across from the aisle on the 789 I am on told the SD that his boss was on the next flight from LAX. The SD cringed said does he realize it is a tiny 737? The passenger smiled and said he didn't bother to tell him the difference

Found on Flightradar.
Looks like they may have done circuits at Moses Lake.

AC only has the max 8, which does not have the exit door in question.

Good to know as I have Row 20 for three sectors in January, unless upgrades clear of course.
Can do without natural air conditioning.

It would seem what blew out was not an exit door but some plug placed at a location where there could be an emergency exit, but on that plane there was not, with the plu instead.

There are no Canadian airlines which operate the Max 9, which is the affected aircraft.

Thankfully Air Canada is unaffected since they do not fly the MAX 9. But it's still a bad look for the MAX in general and yet another massive black eye for Boeing and the aircraft. You can't help but have some sympathy for those people who have been insisting it's fatally flawed and that AC should do their best to move on from it.

Probably AC should stick to Airbus narrow bodies. Demote all 7M8 to Rouge where they are a better fit.

Very much agreed the preferred seats aren’t too bad but I really hate flights on the max if I have to get work done thanks to the lack of wifi (which is ridiculous for being some of the newest narrow bodies in the fleet) and have skipped the max direct for a connection on transcons so I could actually get work done.

Some Max 8s are configured with a door at that location, e.g. Buzz Air’s Max 8-200 has exit doors at row 28, in an all-economy high density configuration. AC’s do not, as far as I can see.

Unless they can get wifi working they would remove a benefit from Premium Rouge. Also they’d be removing the entertainment system as the rest of Rouge has streaming entertainment. Unless they left the current seats with screens, but that seems like added complexity?

I'm gonna say that the solution to "737 MAX is made so poorly a new one has a hole blow open in the sky" is not "put all our 737 MAX planes on the budget brand so only poor people are at risk"
