*FAQ:
Q: On the 787-9 (789), which seats in J are missing windows?
A: Rows 5 and 8 on both port and starboard sides have only one window, instead of two on all other port/starboard J seats.
Q: On the 787-8 (788), which seats in J are missing windows?
A: Only row 5 port and starboard sides have zero windows.
Q: Does the middle J seats' middle divider come down?
A: No, on the 788 and 789 the middle divider does not come down and is fixed in place. In fact, all Dream Cabin (788, 789, 77L, 77W) middle dividers are fixed and do not come down.

I have maintained this stance that the recline on the AC 788/9 in O row 14 is no different than the other rows. I've sat in the row 14 50+ times since the cabin was introduced (in addition to the other rows) and have noticed no difference. The recline in O is just enough to feel like you're La-Z-Boy ish and not sleeping upright in Y, IMHO.
I began heeding this row 14 advice on the Dreamliners some months ago and was thrilled I did. I really hate when people use the seat as leverage to stand up.

I've sat in rows 12, 13 and 14. We all know the upside to 14. The problem I've seen is if sitting in 13 or 14 and the person in front puts their seat in maximum recline, it is a challenge to get up from your seat to get out without trying to balance on something. So, the automatic behavioral response is to hold on to the seat in front as leverage to get out, thus perhaps annoying that person. If I'm in 14, I try and nicely let the person in front of me know that when they are fully reclined, I may end up touching their seat. Those who are less selfish, will understand and either not recline as much or will happily reduce recline for someone to get out. YMMV
EDIT to add:
Here is a photo I took and PE looks spacious at this point. But when the seats are in recline, not so much. (Legroom was great though)

It's also partly a design flaw, and or a pitch issue. And it is definitnely difficult to get out of the seats when the person in front has their seat fully reclined.

Agreed that when the seat in front of you is fully reclined it's not easy to get in and out.

My first ever trip to Japan a little over 4 years ago, was on AC's first 788, Fin 801, thus I've always called her "the first born".
I was in 14A on the way to HND, an excellent 13.5 hours.
I was in 14C on the return.....a little less pleasant but fine.
I was in 14D CPH-YYZ and I've sat in row 12 on the 788, 789, and refurbed 777s quite a few times to/from LAX, YVR
There are many things I liked about my early experiences, like the dedicated FA for the cabin, and especially the curtains and the better food.
I buy Y for all North American-only travel and based on some experiences flying to LHR and FRA, I made some decisions about the value propositions on those routes.

I'm more in shock that you can remember seat numbers from four years ago.
I have trouble remembering where I was four days ago.

@Bohemian1 knows this, but I am the "beneficiary" of an eidetic memory, and certainly not by choice. Thus, I don't track my seats, I remember events and many of the details. This AC 5/6 HND trip was my first to Tokyo as I mentioned and my first on AC's new 788s. There were only a couple of us in PE on the outbound and we all spent the entire flight enjoying all the new things that were part of flying these aircraft for the first time.
The wing porn photos I took, had me staring out the window for most of the daylight hours. No one was in 14C on the outbound, so I had a bit more luxury. The FA was outstanding and the main meals in both directions were excellent. So, it's less about the seat than me remembering the experience, and thus 14A etc.
BTW, this was my OP for the thread Air Canada Over the Wing In-flight photos/videos and the gorgeous views from 14A
You need a new hobby.

Does Air Canada have any full business 787 planes?
A friend told me that they were in a group flying from YYZ to DXB, and due to delay of theincoming bound flight, Air Canada out them into a 787 airplane entired equipped with the j-class pod seats, and no economy cabins.
i have never heard of, but assume you guys know this....
