Codeshare / Partner Inventory
 

Hi all,

Does anyone know how the system recognizes inventory when a flight is codeshared with a partner airline? For example, ITN shows that my Air Canada flight from YYZ to NRT has J6 C2 on AC001, whereas the identical flight codeshared by All Nippon shows J0, C4 on NH1983. Does this mean that there are 12 seats total left in the executive cabin on the flight (that is what I count when I try to do seat selection)?

If so, when do either company get access to the others inventory if they are sold out of a class?

No. The "J" inventory data from AC shows the total number of remaining seats on a flight. In your case, there are total of 6 J seats remaining on the flight, ANA can sell up to 4 of them. "C" class is just a subset of the "J" inventory, upgrade inventory comes out of this class. So if a SE calls in and get an upgrade now, the data will go down to J5C1.

If I recall right, you are still hoping to get into J with your D class ticket. Good luck. There are usually a high number of no shows on those Asia flights so you should be fine.

You would have to know if ANA has "Free-sale" or "Block-Space". i.e. If ANA has block space then they may have already sold their seats and thus J0. Or what do they call their Business class? It may not be J, but may be C.

It would guess that ANA Business class is a freesale and is sold as C and not J. The reason for the C4 is that they may only sell up to a maximum of 4 seats at a time. This is like the display of 9's as a maximum for the operating carrier.
