Who's not flying in or out of YYC today?

I just made it out yesterday before the snow started falling. Apparently 40cm of the white stuff has fallen already with another 10-20 all day long.

Let's see - the coldest March since 1899, the coldest April in 27 years and now looks like the coldest and most snowed May in history and we're only 6 days in!

Gotta love this country of ours.

Ah but it's so purty out there (as long as you don't go too far!)

I second that - some sun peeking out right now and not a trace of snow here in Edmonton.

I doubt anyone is leaving YYC any time soon. Over a foot of snow at the house, 70cm in the foothills NW of town. Flights are cancelled left and right. Colleague at work was supposed to go to Houston today (12:40) - cancelled. Maybe the later flight will go as the snow is suppoded to let up soon (still coming down hard). Our other partner crime who was connecting from YEG is now going through YYZ. Took me 2 hrs to get in to work today (normally 30 min). Even the police can't get anywhere and snowplows are in the ditch.

Ahh, springtime in Alberta.

Well in YVR we had hail last night and woke up to snow falling this morning...

Very strange weather, indeed for Vanc.

I just got back from dropping my daughter off at school, then I promptly got stuck in my back alley trying to get back into my garage! My truck is still there in the alley.
The snow is ABOVE MY KNEES at my back door!
Then my dad phones from Niagara and is cursing about having to cut his lawn already!!

Gotta love Calgary weather!

We got out of YYC just in time yesterday on the 5 pm. The snow was getting worse heading north up Deerfoot Trail and the temp was just warm enough at that time of the day to prevent the snow from sticking. Our aircraft didn't even need de-icing which speed up the flight a bit.

I remember snow storms in June when I lived there!

Air Canada has issued a severe weather advisory.

In the 8 years I've lived in Cowtown, I've seen it snow every single month of the year, including July and August.

Or as we like to refer to it, 10 months of winter and 2 months of muddy tobogganing!

By the time I get home late Thursday, it should be all over except for the yelling (from the Mrs. who gets to shovel yet again!).

Not to rub salt in wounds of those who were stuck today...

Left YEG on the 3:00PM, landed YYC at 3:40PM. A little bumpy coming down, but otherwise we were right on time, as scheduled.

Edmonton, although cold today, didn't have one flake on the ground. -2 wake up weather, maybe 2 or 3 degrees when leaving, under beutiful blue skies.

Man you guys have weird weather out here!

Village Idiot May 6, 2002 8:44 pm

PointWeasel... you were on fl#225 from YYC to YVR yesterday?!? So was I. Where were you sitting?

Carioca Canuck May 6, 2002 8:56 pm
