Plus, there are those of us who use our cards overseas (though not for this card due to FX surcharge, and, in some cases, ability to receive CCs in other nations that I visit a lot.)
I use the card for car rentals for overseas trips. I have an amazon Visa card which doesn't have FX surcharge but it does not have car rental insurance.

So it's one bonus per customer oor there's a secret way to get more?

Anyone undertook a comparison between the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege and the CIBC Aerogold Visa Infinite Privilege?

They are both $399.

I didn't make a super detailed comparison, but based on the info on CIBC's site, they seem to be pretty similar. Right down to the priority check-in, priority boarding, free checked bag and 4 lounge passes. And the $200k household income requirement. That, too

And a 399 fee. I'm not sure a comparison is worth it given that there's for the most part nothing not replicated by the AMEX Plat (other than the checked bag). AND A 399 FEE! With only a 25k signup!

Definitely NOT limited to ONE bonus per customer. But it's not a big secret either. When you get enough credit strength, then you can start to play around with the system...until then, just play it proper and live with the ONE bonus rule.

75K or more sign up and I'm in. These cards really are not being pushed at all, hopefully that might change down the road. Seems odd Visa would create this ultra premium card, yet skimp on the bonus and really do nothing but charge an exorbitant fee. Even the 1.25x miles is skimpy. At least the AeroPlat is 1.5x after 25K spending.

Once I use up the 2 travel credits the Amex Plat is only $299 for 75K (wife referral included)

Just got a mailing from TD telling me how fantastically everything is going but that the date has slipped to June 16th, it is seamless but don't forget to use your new card starting a month and a half from now...

What a clown show, worst part is it just pushes back the date at which I can cancel this card, June 16th. Can't cancel with CIBC, can't cancel with TD seamless my ......

Looked up availability for YYZ-ATL
Called Aeroplan, confirmed I have 2-for-1 voucher
Redeemed voucher easily, sadly with ~$180/person tax/fees ($54 in YQ)
Got eTicket PDF instantly

Too bad CIBC Aerogold didn't come with one

I have received this same message- also noting I will not any longer be able to login to my CIBC accounts after that date unless I have another card to link them to..... slick.

We received the mailing as well, so I called them. Originally, the CIBC Aerogold cards were to remain active until people "sold to TD" received their new cards. I was told this by people at CIBC and TD. I suspected otherwise.

I called TD (where we actually do bank) because we are leaving for NY on June 15 and if we have not received the new TD formerly CIBC Aerogold Visa cards we would not have a Visa card to use. Unacceptable. I asked in what order the new cards were being mailed out. I was told TD would be starting with Western Canada and ending with Ontario - naturally. My call was far from the first the dept. had received from people travelling during this window.

We will use our Amex Aeroplan but a couple of the stores where I buy food etc. do not accept Amex. Of course TD told me that we could use our First Class Travel Cards (of course they know we have them due to our all inclusive bank accounts) but I asked them to ignore those cards. Bottom line is if a person has one Amex and one Visa they could have an issue.

Next I was told that if we had to use the First Class Travel Cards that TD would manually calculate the points that would have been earned on the Aeroplan Visa and transfer them over. Not likely. Of course 2 of TDs credit card dept. staff told me that ALL! of the Aeroplan business was being sold to TD - that CIBC would not be keeping any of it. Another wonderful, useless talk with TD - our bank of 32 years.

double miles promotion for CIBC customers sold to TD

I was told today by TD that they are going to offer former CIBC customers being transition (sold to TD) a promotional period of double miles until July 13th (for the next batch of transitions scheduled for May 15 to June 15th).

I confirmed there was no cap to the double miles.

So if you are able to time a couple of larger purchases you can capture much of the lost sign up bonus without the complications of applying for a new TD card.

There are 3 of us in our family that are primary CIBC aerogold visa holders, and those 3 cards are all sold to TD. The 2 family members,

I have 2 family members that received invitation to register, and they get double for purchases for gas/grocery/drugs, for Apr and & statements. I did not get the invitation. I called to find out why I didn't get the invitation, got the run-around, but eventually got confirmation from ae that I am not flagged for that promotion.

What you just described is new. Hmm.

There is a cap for the 3X for Aerogold for Business -$6000. It's buried in the fine print (of course)

I haven't gotten any letters at all from TD since one in about January/February telling me they'd be in touch. Apparently I'm not a good enough customer to deserve these offers others have been getting.
